Can I feather in some multifinish and if so do I need to prepare anything, i.e. pva or tape edges? But…

Anyone know what this wire clip thing is called?
Hi, I want to add an extra under cupboard light to an existing transformer. The new light came just with 2 wires, whereas the ones already set up have the wires in some type of plastic clip which is clipped in to the transformer - can anyone give me an idea what this 'clip' is called and maybe an idea of where I can buy…

Hole in wall
Hi everyone, Just returned home after a trip abroad, to find that my eldest son had pulled a railing of the wall. It has left a hole in the wall about 7.5cm by 7.5cm and has left a considerable amount of plaster/paintwork either damaged or ripped off. If I was to fix this myself, what would the best products be and would…

Rising damp - who do I call?
Hi everyone Sorry if this is a dumb question. The wall between my kitchen and living room is showing signs of rising damp. This is the original end wall as the kitchen is an extension (done circa 10 years ago). We have noticed it in the archway (it is an open arch rather than a doorframe and door). It's the bottom 12…

Washing machine installation?
I've got a new flat and need a washing machine to go in it. I had a look and there's no existing place for a washing machine, just two under counter spaces with plug socket at the back. I did look at under the sink though and there's one white tube that ends in a narrow bit and behind this there are metal bits with red and…

Megaflo or no?
We are ready to go ahead with a loft conversion, but stalling because we're totally confused about what we do or don't need in terms of boiler / megaflo to go with it. We currently have one bathroom - will have two post-conversion. Our pressure (combi boiler) is good - but we're told it's possible we'll have problems with…

Granite slab for baking
Hi all I've been doing all of my baking so far using the baking tray supplied with the oven (pre-heated for an hour so I get decent pop), and while it does the business I want to make some pizza's and thought that investing in 'proper' stone might be a good idea. My aunt lives in Devon and can get hold of some local…

Can you retrospectively fit a thermostat to central heating?
We purchased our house 5 years ago... the central heating is a gas fired combi boiler with a timer dial where you set the times it comes on, a knob to select hot water or both hot water and radiators and then 2 dials to choose the hot water temperature and radiator temperature. These two latter dials are not set with…

RCD Question
In our lounge we have two wall lights each with two bulbs, when any of the bulbs pops the RCD trips on that particular circuit. At first when we moved in we thought that perhaps it was the light fittings to blame, but since then we have replaced them and the RCD still trips. Is it just that the RCD is highy sensitive?

Heating and Hot Water - Gas Usage
Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of a advise and no doubt some will think this is a dumb question but... ... our current boiler is somewhat temperamental when set on a time, esp the mornings leading to several occasions when we've got up for work expecting hot water only to find the boiler turned onto reset and it's cold…

Dwell.co.uk - anyone brought forward their delivery?
I bought a sofa online at Dwell on 24th Jan, when it said 'out of stock - delivered within 2 weeks' (generally, not for my specific order). I took that with a pinch of salt obviously.
