Any benefit to staying with your current bank?
The Halifax Ultimate Reward account just seems so good (on top of the #125 reward). I have been with NatWest for nearly 20 years and always appreciated their service on the whole. I am not looking to buy a house within the next couple of years, but are there ANY benefits to staying with your current bank financially?

TSB Classic Plus direct debit cashback
TSB's T&Cs state the two direct debits need to be to two different companies. Do they mean this, or will two direct debits to two separate Tesco accounts work?

Unfortunately now after three years, my account will be changed in September to a standard Santander 123 Current account without…

Hotel Pre-authorisation holds
Hi. I was wondering if anyone that works in banking could tell me if there's a set amount of time before a pre-authorisation "drops off"? I've never had the problem before, as whenever Ive checked out of a hotel, the final bill has always seemingly been matched against the pre-auth. However, 7 working days after Ive…

I will work on this project for just 3-4 months before coming back to the UK. In order to be paid for my work at Stanford, I need a US bank…

How do you manage your household paperwork?
Hey all. I was wondering how most people managed their paperwork. I have a filing cabinet, with old agreements, sorted into categories. I have a pile of opened letters on my computer desk and I have a pile of opened letters in the kitchen. I keep telling myself one day to sort it out, but I never get round to that fateful…

Question about a cheque being cashed into the wrong account
Hi All, Probably being paranoid: I cashed in a cheque for a relative today. Gave the account no and sort code to the cashier (it was on my phone, sent from recipient of cheque). I didn't ask the cashier to confirm if the account brought up was the right one - presumbly the cashier cheques that the account on the system…

My cash deposit at post office gone missing
On Monday 24th Jul I payed in £500 cash at my local post office. I bank with TSB and this was my first deposit at Post Office branch. Previously I always used TSB branch for my banking needs, but my local branch has been closed down, so I have decided to give a Post Office branch a try. Looks like it was a big mistake.…

Bank account for 11 year old nephew
I'm interested in helping my 11 year old nephew sign up to a bank account - to try and learn the value of money. At the moment he has never really been taught the value of saving, and I'm going to try and help him. The problem is if he has money to spend he is likely to spend it, but I'm going to try and help him change.…

Does your bank care if you're ill?

Hi Until recently, we had both Citibank UK & Citibank US dollar accounts as we have a flat in the US that we need to pay bills on (via the US one) and for travelling (using the UK one). The UK one has decided they do not make enough money from us and have closed our account. Mum who also owns part of the flat has her own…
