Halifax Phone Security
Needed to phone Halifax tonight to ask about a pending transaction on my account and also if they had sent a replacement card out yet as mine expires end of June I went through the automated bit typing in my bank account number, sort code, security number on the card etc. Then they asked for my DOB which i gave. Once all…

Have you been charged 2% to pay by debit card in the UK?
Does anyone know if this has become law? I have been asked to pay 2% on the balance of our holiday plus 40 pence transaction fee. I have received no notification of these charges when I originally booked the holiday in December 2015 and nothing in writing since. I was only told this today when I telephoned to pay off the…

Cleared cheque funds reclaimed later?
Hi I rarely get cheques so am not up to date with the latest on 'safe' clearance times. Googling gives me conflicting information. Some sites say to guarantee the bank( after the usual 6 day or so 'clearance' )cant claim back money back from your account for any reason (as long as you yourself are not involved in any…

Tesco curreny account
Does anyone know if I could open a Tesco current account and use it just as a saving account to get the 3% interest on £3000? Would there be any problems if it is not used as a normal current account? Apologies if this has already been asked Thanks

Best long term high interest accounts
I'm looking to start making my money work harder for me but it seems I have to work hard to make my money work hard !! Are there any decent interest paying accounts that do not revert back to a basic account after 12 months or does not require me to jump through several hoops ? Cash ISA's don't seem to be worth much. Are…

HSBC now offering £150 switch plus £50 after 6 months
Can't see on website yet, advert in the Metro today. New customers only, must switch with two SOs or DDs, but nothing about them needing to pay out. Need to apply for Advance or Premier. Similar theme to the M&S branded version, if you stay, you get a bit extra. Edit: the £50 is after 12 months, not 6.

Halifax Reward- is there a way to set up an IMMEDIATE direct debit
I've got a Halifax Reward account with 2 Direct Debits going out every month. But this month one of my DDs (with Amex) has been cancelled. So I have 24 hours to set up a DD with a new company and I need it to be paid before the end of the month. Can this be done? I've been searching the internet for around 45 minutes and…

Pre Authorisation
I authorised, using chip and pin, a £200 deposit for a hire van. Unfortunately, through no fault of my own - long story, the van has been damaged. The insurance excess thingy is £1,000. That is money I don't (and probably never will) have in my account. When I hand van back in next 45 minutes and they see the damage will…

Re-joining a bank who I defaulted with
Hi everyone, I wasn't sure whether to post this in the credit file / ratings section, or here in bank accounts - but it's more specific to a bank, so here goes :) In 2013 I defaulted on a Halifax overdraft of roughly £3,000. The debt was sold on by Halifax to a debt collection company and it has since all been paid off in…

Transition from Student to Graduate account
Hi, I'm just about to graduate and would be grateful for some advice about moving from a student to graduate account. I'm with Santander who offer a 1,500 pound overdraft. I am in this overdraft and am wondering what will happen come when I graduate. I'm aware that they have the right to ask for it immediately. I have a…

Colour of the FlexDirect debit card
Anybody that has a FlexDirect account opened last year or this year, is the colour blue on your card lighter than the one compared to the displayed on the website? The one on the website is dark blue. Mine seems to be a lighter blue compared to the one on the website.

Occasional standing order payments missing
Bit of a strange one this. I'm currently in a dispute with a service provider, to whom I pay a regular subscription by monthly standing order. The payment has been the same for the last 3 years, and the SO has been left running for that time, to continue until further notice. However, the service provider, have recently…

Halifax Reward..will PayPal work as a direct debit?
I've recently opened a Halifax Reward account for the £100 for switching my HSBC student account over after they messed me about, and the £5 a month reward. But I need two direct debits. Now technically, I do have two, one is a repair insurance for my PS4, and the other is for my Lloyds Avios Credit card. Both are on my…

Possible silly mistake - what next?
A friend texted me late last night as I was falling asleep asking to borrow £40. I said no worries and to send me his bank details for me to do it in the morning. Woke up very early with the little one and transferred it in a half asleep state. It was only when telling my wife later that we both twigged that it could have…

Co-Op £150 Bank Switch
No doubt there will be lots of switchers to this new offer featured by Martin. Had my bank card through with pin, but absolutely nothing about online banking or details of my switch from TSB, which I am sure I entered during my application. How have others got on?

I'm looking to set up a joint account for myself and my partner. Current Account - Am I a home owner or not?
I wondered if someone can help me. I'm looking to open a new current account and one of the questions is about my residential status. I live with my husband but my name isn't on the deeds or the mortgage because he bought the house before meeting me. Therefore am I a "Home owner with a mortgage" or not? The only other…
