FD & Halifax switching bonus question
In order to switch and get the bonus at FD and/or Halifax do I have to have at least 2 DDs on the account I will switch? Or can I just add 2 DDs after I've switched?

Cheque for 37p
I've received a Santander dividend cheque for 37p. Will it cost me all or more of that, to pay it into my bank account? I do not bank with them. Just a thought, no big deal (obviously!) Thanks.

Current Accounts
Hi, One of my relative had some credit problems previously and currently has a Natwest Account. If a DD is going out from his account, Natwest allow credits up to 12pm before they will bounce DD/SO. I know Lloyds does the same and allows credits upto 3pm. Any idea if Nationwide do this? MS

HSBC conflict of interest?
Hi, I pay my HSBC flexiloan repayment on the 1st of every month, then from my flexiloan account place that money back into my standard account. However, on the last payment date I had paid my rent early by a day which caused the flexiloan repayment to send me overdrawn by £27ish pounds, for one day, Saturday, before I paid…

They have now been told it will take 6 weeks to clear and they cannot be told the rate untill the transaction has been completed ? I…

TSB closed joint account without my permission.
I have just found out over the phone that TSB closed a joint account that I was a signatory on without my permission. They said my next step is to visit them in branch. However before I went, I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience of this? They surely could not close the account without my express permission?…

Confused about joint bank accounts
I'm moving in with my other half and we want to set up a joint bank account for bills, rent etc while keeping our own current and savings accounts. We will put a set amount into the joint account every month (over £1,000) but I'm confused about the type of account to go for. There seem to be lots of great deals on current…

How often do you switch secondary accounts?
It just occurred to me, with all the switching offers currently going around, and knowing that some forumites have unused accounts that wait for new offers, that these secondary accounts might quite easily change hands quite a few times. Personally, I've just set up an unused secondary account with direct debits so it can…

Switching bank accounts
Hi. I have my Halifax Current Account where my wages and direct debits are setup so I benefit from the £5 a month offer. But I have maxed out my ISA for this year so would like to put some money into a regular savings account. Currently the best regular savings account seems to be from First Direct (6%) but you have to be…

Apologies but I can't find a link I followed yesterday and hope someone can repost it for me. Yesterday when opening my second account I found a link on here which led me to a page…

Never had this before...
Received two cheque books from Metro Bank for my current account... Nothing weird about that I suppose, but let's look closer - the serial numbers on both cheque books are the same. Having worked for a bank for a short while, many moons ago, I haven't come across this happening. Does anyone in banking know what would…

Another Santander 123 question....
I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me how many days are in a Santander month? Opened the account on the 7th February, and I gather via this site they don't work to calendar months? just trying to work out when to 'wash' my £500 through. Many Thanks.

Hi All I have various accounts within the Lloyds banking Group, i.e BOS, Lloyds, TSB and Halifax -- All of them appear to use the same kinda internet banking software. Each of the sites/banks allow you to change your username, does anyone know whether you can use the same username for each of the sites/banks? Would make…

How long should I keep physical bank statements?
Hi, I've just recently moved house and I'm going through all of my files. I've got bank statements going back a few years. I've seen on here recommendations to keep statements for up to 6 years, but having numerous statements each month means that keeping multiple statements for a number of years leaves a large amount of…

House buying in Scotland
I live in Scotland, renting in Edinburgh, and am at the point where I've enough money in the bank to finally get on the housing ladder and, with a mortgage guarantee scheme mortgage, can afford somewhere decent. However, the vote whether to become independent in September is concerning me: I have read a few articles that…

Instant access savings/current accountPros: easy unrestricted access, 123 account would work Con: savings acc interest currently rubbish, 123 not separate pot 2. Cash ISA -…
