Default M & S furniture outlet

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but thought it was worth sharing anyway.

Marks and Spencer. Make superbly build furniture, but at a cost. However, if you place an order, and subsequently cancel for whatever reason, you are not penalised. Now, depending on when you cancel, they may well have made your order (e.g. chair) already in your choice of fabric.

What do they do with these cancelled orders? Can't sell them in the M&S stores. They instead get sold, at a heavily discounted price, at the outlets of the sole furniture suppliers to M&S, deeside furniture.

There's two in Flint, North Wales, and one in Falkirk.
website: http://www.deeside-furniture.co.uk/shop.html

We got a large 2 seater and standard 2 seater Abbey sofa in brown leather for 1550, RRP of the large one alone is 1399. Also 6ft leather bed 1150 for 630.

Definately worth a look.

I looked on their website but did not find any item for sale. Does the shop allow you to transact over the internet?

No, you have to visit the stores. Their stock is turned over very quickly. THey get sizeable weekly deliveries.

What I would suggest is that you get the M&S catalogue, decide roughly what you're looking for (sofa, cabinet, etc) and phone them if you're not local.

We stay near the Falkirk outlet, and were told about it by a friend. Bought the large 2 seater and normal two seater Abbey sofas, and the Amber 6ft leather bed.

We'd asked the couple that run the shop to keep an eye out for a bed coming in, and they duly phoned when it did.

The furniture is top top quality though. YOu absolutely get what you play for, and here you're getting M&S quality at DFS prices!

Hi Snowdrop5. Try this http://www.trade-secret.co.uk/ once you register they send you a link to their catalogue. I've been to one of their warehouses and was amazed at the quality and the price.

Hi, is it definitely returned stock of marks and spencer and the like? I was having a look today at their online catalogue, and then searched the name of the furniture via google, but nothing came up.

the falkirk shop folded years and years ago.
i haven't seen anywhere else in scotland that does m&s seconds
but there is a chairty shop on dumbarton road just west of crow road that has had some-one or two at a time, in their store occassionally. just a matter of timing though and i've no idea where they got their donations.

Homebrands has gone bankrupt too. But, there is an official M and S outlet just for furniture opened in Colne, Lans, near the Asda.

The M & S returns furniture place is in Greenfields (nr Holywell). They occasionally have clearance sales-although IMO they are nowhere near as cheap as they used to be-a few years back i got an Abbey leather chair for 50 and a full size sofa for bout 450. I went to a sale just before christmas (which i received a pre sale invite for which suggested bargain basement prices) and it was just very very expensive rubbish-although maybes all the good stuff had gone......i think it is a bit pot luck

I can second this I work for an M & S outlet and a few of our staff were due to go and help set this up, turns out they weren't needed in the end. I believe it opened mid-December, somewhere near Boundary Mill.

Hi Teacher Tim,'

That is good too know!

Do you have an address or any more information re: the furniture outlet. Is it actually in boundary mill or a separate unit? Would just like to ring before I make a long journey, looking for a particular bed for my little boy but very expensive in marks.

TIA

Thanks, used to live round there about 4 years ago, but we live Sussex now so typical isn't it! I will have to pop along to that Trade Secret one, would be nice if we had one on our doorstep (Sussex) though!

I popped into the trade secret store in Adderbury today - as i was passing - they were unpacking beds etc that were in M&S boxes. Not sure if everything is from M&S though - I dont want to sound snobby or anything, but its weird, the stuff there just looked wrong - like it was cheaper, the stuff in the M&S stores looked better quality - not sure why but I walked out unimpressed and walked around to fired earth next door!

I would have been disappointed if I had made a special trip - oh and take your wellys - the car park is full of huge muddy puddles - NIGHTMARE
