Arrow Are banks closed on Good Friday?

Sorry this may sound like a really stupid question, but please hear me out.
I am a bit confused on the whole subject...

Good friday is a 'Public Holiday' not a 'Bank Holiday', does this mean the banks will be open? Its a bit annoying if banks are shut on the friday and the monday, as ive got a cheque coming on the friday, it just puts another 2 days & a weekend onto the already unbelievable clearing time of 5 days!

I assume my bank (Lloyds Gravesend) will be open on saturday as normal, but this will not class as one of the clearing days will it?

Again no gunning me for being thick, just a bit confused and google is giving different answers, just wanted to see what was right as you lot are usually spot on with things like this!

Thanks for your help!

No as Good friday is a bank holiday, i expect banks will be closed. I'm not working, and OH isn't working so i expect others are entitled to a day off too

Just to confuse it further, the banks are closed on Good Friday in Scotland but not closed on the Monday

Seems I'm wrong now...

Q. Why are banks in Scotland not always closed on bank holidays?

A. The Scottish Clearing Banks decided to harmonise the days on which Scottish banks closed with those in England and Wales from Easter 1996 onwards and are closed on Easter Monday, the last Monday in August (rather than the first) and are open for business on 2 January. The banks took the decision to harmonise with England and Wales for business reasons.

When my OH worked for a Scottish bank, he had to take the English Bank Holidays
