Enjoy the definitive collection of 70s soul from the one of the world's much-loved labels.

The latest Gold album, 'Motown Gold' is the definitive collection of the best soul cuts from the biggest stars of the legendary label.
Gold's soul supremo, Greg Edwards (pictured) explains why this was a key period for both Motown and the music scene it was so influential in:
"At the beginning of the 70’s, not long out of my teens, I was soon to leave New York to work for CBS Records in England on one of their record labels that would compete head to head with Motown. I quickly realised that what I was hearing from both labels was more and more representative of me, my life and the world that I was living in.
"There were messages in the music; Marvin Gaye’s (pictured) 'What’s Going On' was a social statement about the USA in the early 70s, Edwin Starr’s rendition of 'War' captured the anger and frustration of Vietnam while the assassination of John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King gave us 'Abraham, Martin and John'.
"During all of this, Motown left their base in Detroit and relocated to Los Angeles, established partnerships and signed new acts like The Commodores with Lionel Richie. The Jackson 5 were nurtured and developed, Diana Ross became a truly international mega star and the genius of Stevie Wonder (pictured) exploded with the album 'Talking Book'.

"The 70s was a time of exciting changes so enjoy the breathtaking diversity of talent, style and sound that was Motown at this time."
