    Getting a new boiler-Advice 13th Mar 18 at 3:41 PM
Getting a new combi boiler soon with Scottish gas coming out next week to quote for this. Some folks have said it will be 1/3 more expensive through them than a regular plumbing co.

What are your thoughts on this (good and bad)

Yep, they will charge the earth normally.

Look for three or more local gas safe plumbers using the gas safe register and get quotes.

If you have a family or friend to give a recommendation (still check they are registered), even better. GasSafe is not a guarantee of quality, but all installers need to be gas safe registered.

If you have a specific brand in mind you could even check their site for an affiliated installer. You normally get an extended warrantee as a result.

Vaillant have 10 year warrantee with affiliated installations at the moment and are well regarded as a big brand. Although you need to ensure you comply with the terms of the warrantee. This includes ensuring you get it serviced every year. But it is still worth it.

Despite all the marketing, a lot of plumbers suggest avoiding Worcester Bosch. Although like anything, you can have a good boiler installed badly, and a poor boiler installed well. The latter will probably work better.

But, avoid Scottish Gas (Centrica). They are nothing special and will probably supply the highest quote.
