Cleaning Mullions / Bay / Window Cills 12th Jan 18 at 11:28 AM

I am hoping to clean up the stone work on my house starting with the mullions / bay window and working on window sill which has blackend / weathered.

Can anyone recommend the best way of cleaning up these and products etc...?

    Thanks,

    Shaun

best option is not really a DIY one. SODA blasting (lighter version of sand blasting). Done by contractors.
You can buy small DIY water sandblasters that work with the little power washers. Not perfect as the whole thing has to be lifted up as hoses are short.
Brick acid (builders merchants) may help, but it depends just how clean you want them.

Agree - if you cleaned around the windows, it would make the rest of the house look worse.

The blackening is due to pollution, and is part of the house's history. Seriously, if it was a National Trust property, they would leave it as is.
