Is all of this possible? 10th Jan 18 at 3:59 PM
Just before I buy in case I have missed anything and make a mistake.

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S6 on a SIM only deal with Vodafone. The plan is for my son to have this handset and for me to get an upgrade to an S8.

Problem is Vodafone want loads a money for the handset and contract and I don't want to pay it!

I have looked on mobiles.co.uk and read a lengthy thread on here about them and they look OK and, despite vodafone telling me the phone won't have a warranty and be from Samsung (how) and the line rental won't be with them (again how) I think I am happy with the deal they have on offer.

So the plan would be for me to take out a new contract through mobiles.co.uk and then put the SIM from the new phone into my S6 so son can have the new number and put my current SIM into the new phone (which is on vodafone).

Will this work? Anything I am possibly missing with being able to do this? My current handset is already unlocked and the new one will be locked to vodafone but my SIM is a vodafone one too so I don't see a problem but need to check as I know I can't port my current number from vodafone to vodafone.

    TIA all!

Except the facts. The line rental will be with Vodafone, the phone will have a warranty and the new phone will now be an unlocked one. Customer service is awful with both companies, so nothing to choose there. You should take out the contract via a cashback site, though the last times I did that they refused to pay up (so I resigned and stopped using CPW as a result).

Brill, haven’t found a deal anywhere near this so off to buy... cashback through top cashback too.

If Quidco pay more, don't forget to put in a higher cashback claim. I know all the tricks, but they have the killer one up their sleeve - when they cheat you out of the cashback there's not a lot you can do about it. Also make sure it's not a cahsback contract - which you CAN enforce - but only if you understand fully how they work and follow the groundrules very carefully. They are the only contracts I do.
