How many people get really angry with the fact the if you are a single traveller then you have to pay for the privilege. I would really love to go on a cruise but I cannot afford to pay anything up to 50% extra.

With people living longer when are they going to stop ripping off single people! and as for single holiday specialist companies, forget it! They start off being a ridiculous price.

They are not ripping off single people. Most hotels/ships etc do not have single rooms or cabins therefore one person would be occupying the same space that two usually would.

By making you pay a supplement, they are covering some of the money they are losing by only having one person instead of two.

If you're happy to share your cabin/room with a stranger, you have a point. If you want a cabin to yourself, obviously you're going to pay a lot more than someone sharing.

If it turns out that you have no one to share with because the other solos have opted to pay the supplement, you get a single room without paying a supplement. I don't know how often this happens. I haven't had it yet.

A few cruise lines have single rooms now - I can't post the link, but there's an article on Cruise Critic which suggests P&O, Norwegian, and Fred. Olsen all have single cabins. I have read a few good things about Norwegian Epic in particular.
