    Hi All,

    For the purpose of Mortgage, is a non working spouse considered dependant even if I am not paying any official maintenance just covering the household costs and bills.

    If you are doing a joint application, no.
    If you are doing a single application, yes.

    If your wife is a housewife, i.e. staying at home to look after the children and has no guaranteed sources of income. Then she is financially dependent on you. Offical maintenance sounds as if you are seperated which doesn't appear to be the case.
