    Morning,

    Wet and wild here too!

Well done on the win rose. Make a nice little present.

Went to see my dad yesterday and he is looking ok and doing well. Just hope the stents sort themselves out. He is on a massive dose of tablets and is anaemic too. It has been a stressful few months for everyone. Have promised to take parents to Blackpool when dad is fit again as I think their days of foreign holidays is now over.

Hope everyone has a lucky day.

Morning everyone. Another cold damp one here. Later in this morning as decided to pull bedroom apart this morning and move things round. Not that there is a lot to move as have built in wardrobes but dust seems to accumulate under things. Will probably end up moving bed back to where it was as I seem to get used to it in one place and don't seem to sleep well when it is in another position.Yet if I stay at friends/relatives/hotels sleep is not a problem. Hope everyone is keeping warm. Take care and good luck.

Happy Pancake day. We too had pancakes today.

It was very cold and wet here to today. I took GD over to visit friend but otherwise we didn!!!8217;t venture out. thankfully yesterday was fine and a bit warmer. We spent the afternoon in Greenwich park and to the Royal observatory for a presentation on Meet the Neighbours i.e. Mars etc. GKS loved it. There were a lot of families there.

Sheils pleased your Dad is perking up. A trip away would be something to look forward to for him and your Mum. Roll on Spring and some better weather.

Indie I think I have had the same as you and Shells with the Zizzi game bit disappointing.

Rose well done on your win. Great to have a surprise.

Hope everyone is well now and good luck.

Indie and Leanfun, Zizzi have put most of the offers back on. Only the £10 voucher is out of stock at the moment. The main course offer is probably a lot better than the £10 voucher anyway.

Good morning all & happy Valentines Day!

Hope everyone's well today. After atrocious weather for
most of yesterday, amazingly the sun showed itself late
afternoon! I think we're in for a mixed bag today, sun, cloud
    and rain!

Couldn't believe it this morning - got this message again!
    Ho hum!

Your password is 5 days old, and has therefore expired.

Please change your password using this page.

Edit: Only just seen your post rose - sorry to hear about your
arthritis flare-up again. Re the new blue screen you mentioned,
thankfully mine automatically reverts to the old green screen
once I've logged back in. I'm the same as you, can't get on
    with the ''new look'!

So pleased to hear good news about your dad sheils, a trip
to Blackpool will be lovely & something for your Mum and Dad
    to look forward to.

Sounds as if you had a brilliant afternoon yesterday leanfun
with GKs visiting Greenwich Park & Royal Observatory - it's
such an interesting place - both educational and fun!

Have a lovely and lucky Wednesday all - please take care
    whatever your plans.

    Morning all,

Really windy here today and rain supposed to arrive anytime. Not cold though.
This password thing is getting really silly now. DD was up last night for dinner and she got in panic as she couldn't get into her Uni work as she had forgotten password. They have to change them all the time and she has run out of ideas. She did remember later that she was using one of her bf's favourite passwords and got in.
Going for breast scan today, last one was cancelled due to the snow.
Not really what I want to do on Valentines Day! DH is going to go shopping for steaks and wine while I go as van is in Tesco car park.
Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Hi all, and happy valentines xx

Just saw that others have had the password change again (this time after just 5 days) it's so annoying. Does anyone know why this is happening? I am also getting a message whilst changing the password that this site is not secure and password may not be safe (the padlock in the url is then red with a cross through it)

    Would love to know why

    Cheers all

Morning peeps. another cold one here. Had hailstones bouncing of the windows earlier. Hand and wrist are still aching. Grandkids phoned last night to tell me they had both received sweet/lollipop bouquets yesterday for Valentines Day. (I sent them) They were a bit overpriced but I suppose the time it takes to put them together justifies the cost. Heading out for a while this morning so thermals will be put in to use again. Hope everyone is well.

    Good morning all

Hope everyone's ok today. After the miserable weather day
we had yesterday in the end - today's looking more promising
with sunshine all the way - and it's also feeling much milder!

Lol! Who can remember this day?!

    Decimal Day 15 February 1971

    http://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/HistoryofBritain/Decimalisation-in-Britain/

‘Decimal Day’ ran without a hitch. Although the elderly generation
found it more difficult to adapt to decimalisation, in general the
population readily embraced the new currency and the oft-used
phrase of the 1970’s “How much is that in old money?” is now
more commonly used in reference to metrication.

I'm guilty of that! And to this day I still can't get my head around
metrication - still prefer using feet/inches/pounds/ounces etc.

Have a lovely and lucky day all and please take care whatever
    your plans.

Morning everyone, that was a lovely thing to do rose, bet they were really excited when they got them. I can remember that day Alfie. Good job really as some of the residents in the home still talk in old money and i know what they are saying. A lot of the youngsters think we are talking double dutch...lol. We have sunshine here at the moment but it keeps clouding over so won't be putting washing out.Just popped to Tesco for a few bits and they have loads of roses and mixed flowers on offer 75% off so lots of people were buying them.Right time to get housework done. Hope you all have a lucky day

Been a lovely day here apart from the wind which is really strong.
Had a walk to my aunt's to give her her birthday card and have a bit of a natter. Not seen her for a while as I was scared I would give her the flu. She is amazing for 86.

Gosh never thought about when decimalisation was. Was never really taught about old money although obviously I remember spending the smaller coins so can remember them.
Always remember a customer in the bank bringing in a 10 shilling note many years after this and I had to ask him which currency it was! Finished up giving him 50p for it and I still have it somewhere.
Hope everyone is having a lucky day.

    Kissing Friday

    Good morning all

Hope you're all ok on this glorious Friday! It's going to be
another beautiful day here with sunshine throughout the day
so will be making the most pottering about in the garden.

Loved all your feedback/memories re Decimal Day! Thought
the inchworm cartoon was brilliant fire**fly!

I've never heard of this one ......

    Kissing Friday

The Friday after Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday is Kissing
    Friday.

    Kissing Friday?

You may wonder why you haven’t heard of this strange custom.
This could be because it has now died out, but until the mid-20th
century, on this day a schoolboy could kiss a girl without fear of a
slap or a telling off! Unthinkable nowadays, but the custom was
especially popular in the Victorian and Edwardian era.

If the boys wanted to kiss the girls, first of all they had to
catch them! Some boys would tie ropes across the street: the girls
would have to pay for passage past the rope with a kiss. Others
would simply chase the girls until they caught them. Indeed,
Kissing Friday was the one day in the year when schoolgirls were
allowed to leave school early, in order to avoid being chased home
    by the boys.

In the village of Sileby in Leicestershire the day was known as
‘Nippy Hug Day’. Here, if the girl did resist a kiss, the boy was
allowed to pinch her bottom, an action known as ‘lousing’, a
curious – and slightly disturbing – reference to pinching off lice.

In parts of Cumbria, the day was known as ‘Nippy Lug Day’: yes,
bizarrely the aim was to pinch each others ears!

    http://www.historic-uk.com/CultureUK/Kissing-Friday/

Time for a coffee me thinks. Have a lovely and lucky day all -
please take care whatever your plans.
