To use Guineapigsqueaks/my own wording, "A new thread for declutterbugs in 2015 2016 2017 2018!"

I'm going to aim to get rid of 2018 items in 2018.
There are some lovely tips on the KonMari thread here, set up by the talented Slinky: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5681824

Of particular note is post 4 of where you can get rid of unwanted items:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=69806488&postcount=4

Welcome one and all and happy decluttering!

Did a few odd jobs around the house today.
Continuing the clean/sort/declutter of kitchen cabinets, today I worked on the under-sink cupboard.
I then sorted out the wall of stuff in my front room.I set aside a few things for donation-hopefully within the next few days. There were also a few thigs I was able to put out for recycling.
Then I sorted through papers.First I put out for recycling,a bundle of old instructions for toys, some of which left the house yeaaaaaars ago. Then I sorted through papers in my filing cabinet. When I am decluttering paper,I usually count 1 inch depth of paper as "1",on my count.Ths was 1.5 inches of paper in all.I will be counting as 2,just for the amount of decision-making I need to do when it comes to papers .
So,out of the house today, mostly for recycling:
    334-336:3 pairs of old tights
337-339:3 funnels used for funnelling salt into dishwasher.Obviously kept from the last few Dwashers I have owned, and I never use them,so out they go
340:sink liner, used to stop sink getting scratched.I used it fore a few months after our new kitchen extension, but it really did get in the way.Still kept it under the sink, though .
    341:bits of odd rubbish
    342-343:odd shoes(Scooby Doo boy's slipper,Build-a-bear workshop shoe),out for recycling
    344-345:paper pile,recycled

r 7 bags of books dropped off at Oxfam on Saturday. These were older books that most CS don't want but they were happy to take them. so 13 bags gone now. The bookshelves are looking 'looser' as there aren't as many books and that will only get better. I hope to actually get rid of a shelf by May.

Sorted out 23 items of clothing to either go to Charity shop or my neighbour. Bagged up and ready to leave by the front door with the others I sorted out recently.

I love this thread because it is so encouraging and is definitely making me get on with the sorting things out and tidying things up.

Ink pens, felt tip pens and pencils are next on my to do sorting list as I have loads and loads of them in various drawers and pots around the house.

Continuing to get rid of paper.
With 4 kids,I get so much paper come int othis house-drawings and writings from the children, stuff from school, receipts, writing notes,etc.....
A few years ago I got the idea of buying pretty storage boxes to keep the papers hidden.Problem with that system,is they just get forgotten. So now I am working on decluttering these pretty boxes, and donating a them.
First box was mostly receipts for work (self-employed cleaner). They were 8 years old,and the pile of them was 3 inches tall ,so I have counted them as 3 on my chart,so that is numbers 346-348.(other random bits found were Christymas (and occasional birthday) cards from customers since I started the business, letters to the toothfairy, plus teeth ,badges from visits to Santa.....
From the second box I have started working on,there was another 4 inches of receipts: general household receipts, birthday and Christmas and school uniform receipts, letters to Santa.......Threw out another 4 inches of receipts,so 349-352.

I had a day off of work today,so spent more time decluttering mostly papers. There were other bits there as well-letters to Santa, birthday wish-lists,videotape taken of the kids over the years,Christmas cards from customers over the years.I have kept all these things, and started to store/file them in some sort of order. So while the list of stuff decluttered doesn't look very big, considering I decluttered for about 5 hours ,alot of time was spent getting like things together and filing them,eg all the children's letters to Santa, all the cards from customers, all the cards from partner or kids'

    Out of the house today:

    Binned:
353:bag of random tat,(old keyring, extremely old Tesco schools vouchers, bits of ceramic items ,made by kids at school years ago,a couple of die, safety pin,a few broken crayons, papers clips........
354:a ring box from a jewellers
355-359:5 inches deep of paper and carboard.Mostly paper, and mostly receipts.

I also set aside a few things for donation, but will list them when they leave the house.

Feels so good getting rid of stuff really quickly like this, while filing/storing properly things I want to keep.Wish I had another day off work tomorrow to continue .

Well done all who are posting!

I know that some of the smaler charity shops and libraries can't cope with large donations of books. Oxfam are much better placed to take them because of their on-line sales.
If that's difficult, have a look at this:

Had a very slow declutter this morning but managed to sort a fair bit to go.

1 shampoo bottle (been meaning to use up for ages and ages) Recycling
    1 jumper CS
    1 t-shirt CS
    1 pretty cushion cover CS
    1 homemade drawstring bag CS
    1 net curtain CS
    1 top CS
2 valance sheets in great condition someone gave to me for our hens when poorly CS
    1 skirt Clothing Bank
    2 t-shirts CB
    1 pair gloves CB

So that's 15 to add to my total.

I have 2 small plastic table cloths which MacMillan give out when you hold one of their coffee mornings. They are so pretty I don't want to throw them out but can't think of another use for them. So thought I would ask on here to see if anyone had any ideas please as I hate waste and don't want to throw them out.
