    2018 - RULE OF 3 Decluttering challenge

    2018 - RULE OF 3 Decluttering challenge 26th Dec 17 at 8:48 PM
I really want to declutter during 2018- so that I can see the spare room floor and so that generally there is no clutter to be seen even hidden away in cupboards...

Therefore I am going to play by the rule of 3 every single day during 2018 I will aim to 'lose' three unwanted items from my home this could be by selling on eBay, donating to charity, taking to the tip or putting in the bin or any other means of elimination...

The aim being that this time next year I will have a clutter free home, tidy cupboards and a functional spare room. Any extra pennies made or good deeds done will be an extra bonus...and may well help with other challenges.

I figure that three items per day is small, easily managed and will not take much time or be too overwhelming...

Does anyone want to join me?

Oh I am so glad I've stumbled across this thread. I am literally drowning in clutter and crap! I am so ashamed with how much stuff I've collected over the years.
I have an attic room full of craft stuff and a "floordrobe" in my bedroom. I want a tidy house but I need a good kick up the backside, so please feel free to *virtually* kick me.

I've been a bit lazy today but have sneaked some "unknowns" out of the freezer into the bin.

    Afternoon

A total of 14 items listed on eBay this week. It’s a definite start.

I also gave 4 bags of clothes to family members so quite a few things have come out of my wardrobe

I will be starting on the drawers in the coming week.

Had a very successful day, like foxyloxy11 I've done a weeks worth today. I've cleared out my wardrobe of clothes, shoes and handbags. I've even roped in my DH to declutter his stuff too. I've given away a coat for free today and I've sold a dress. Thrown away a couple of pieces of lego and some old nail varnishes. At this rate I'll be done before the end of year. I like tackling a cupboard at a time. LPx

Been super productive today too. Sorted out three bags for the charity shop and two bin bags worth will update numbers tomorrow. I'm just getting everything in a state we can function in every room (moved house recently lots of boxes still!). Then the plan is to go through each area in turn! Will have a decluttered house by 2019!!

Made a good start today on the floordrobe, filled 2 bags for the charity shop with 35 bits and pieces, why have I kept my super fat and super skinny clothes? They're out of here, I've no desire to get back into the fat clothes and the skinny clothes are that old and out of fashion they belong in a museum!
Also ordered some new drawer runners, so that I can fix my broken drawers and tidy stuff away properly.

Thank you for starting this thread. My first listing on fleabay sold for £20 and i have just listed 4 more items and 3 have bids on within 5 minutes of listing!

I would have never got round to it without the kick up the bum from this thread...it's getting exciting now. I'm going to pinch the idea of someone on here(sorry can't remember who), I'll try 2 listings at a week each and if it doesn't sell it will go to the charity shop.

Have decluttered the cooking book cupboard - found a Peggy Porschen book- cakes in bloom - I have always wanted to be able to make flowers as beautiful as these but not mastered it and get frustrated when I have nothing to show for several hours work. It was a pricey book at £25 and is immaculate- they seem to hold their price and sell well on eBay so about to list it.

Found a couple of biscuit decorating kits I cannot decide what to do with...

Going to have another go after lunch.

Well I found a couple more bits for the bin and an item for eBay. Been quite hectic today - had hoped to get more done. Keep reminding myself that little and often is the way to go and that everyday is progress on my massive decluttering mission.

How is everyone else doing today?

Well my attic is like a new room And the rest of teh house isn't looking too bad either

4 Black bags went to the 2nd hand shop on Saturday along with 2 boxes of ornaments and books too along with a computer chair.

Old Exercise bike and rowing machine went to the scrap man this morning, a load of recycling out in the boxes and rubbish away too.

Sold a few bits on ebay also so that money has went towards paying off a bit of my credit card also

I've spent the last couple of days trying to get the laptop to connect to the internet. Finally succeeded (I don't know how).
So today. Did a bit of tidying and threw out a few things but, to be honest, I'm kind off trying to prepare for my holiday so not doing quite as much as I could.
