Keep Moving Challenge for 2018 24th Dec 17 at 11:20 AM
With so many folk having fit-bit type devices (or similar) and keeping a note of how far they have walked or run each day I start this thread as an open challenge to record your distances.

No specific target this year, just set your own.

Whether you will be walking, running, cycling or swimming I hope that you will use this thread to keep us updated on your progress.
Use the thread as a way to encourage others to keep moving and to get motivation yourself.

It is good to have a target to aim for but don't over stretch yourself so much that you either get disappointed in your own progress or find that you have too much to make up after coming back from a holiday or extra work having cut back your miles.

I say miles simply because I am old and still measure that way but your own personal challenge could be anything from miles, kilometers, laps, steps etc.
Every man is innocent until proven broke.
Cryin won't help you, prayin won't do you no good.

Keep Moving in 2018 Challenge - Target 3333 miles
    This week - 77.6
    Total so far - 142.6

I am hoping to start using my GPS watch (Forerunner 235) to actually record some running soon. I was injured when I got it and that has continued. I use it for step counting and have a Hike app to record 'boots on' walks.
Daily I am doing OK so far but I have not yet made up the missed day on 1st Jan.

I am more of a 'trainers on' recorder only. I only track running... I don't track steps or hiking (Even up a mountain or 20 mile hikes)

Like Wizard I use a GPS watch (Garmin Fenix 3) to track distance and altitude (it has a barometric altimeter in it) so its pretty accurate for my runs.

I used to track steps on my watch but it all seemed a bit pointless as I was running on average about 6 miles a day anyway so I turned it off.

I walk in my trainers.... lol. I used to run 10 k every day, it aggravated an undiagnosed skeletal issue which caused and still causes difficulties which stop me exercising. Now I walk, but try to aim for a speed of 4 miles per hour with lots of uphill.

Wow I see the gauntlet has been well and truly thrown down and picked up

Me I'm toddling along nicely managing to dodge the showers when necessary and reaching my own little target - managed 9430steps = 3.72mls yesterday so as long as I manage 6mls over Sat & Sun I'll be happy with this weeks effort.
    Keep Moving = 40.24mls/1000mls

I'm on 13,000 now... only 17,000 to go!

I like the idea of banking steps for lazy days.

It's already been up and down for me, today I'm up on the 8000 goal though, so it has averaged out well over the week.

End of the first week of running for me.

33.3 miles run so far. Which puts me a little behind target, but not massively so. I will hopefully make up for it in the next few weeks when I start training properly.

The end of my first week....
    Total miles 41.8
    Total steps 98,773
So the 10,000 steps a day has been smashed....so I am not going to record that anymore, as long as I go over the 10k each day.
To do the 2018 in the year, I have to average 5.53 miles per day, and this weeks total averages out at 5.61 miles, so only just on target.
I did have 2 bad days....one full of cold and one where I had to travel, so could not go walking, but it is now clear to me, that if I am going to achieve what I said, I will have to up my game somewhat
    Keep Moving 2018 challenge.
    January....
    Week 1.... 41.85 miles
    Week 2.... 40.92 miles

End of the week stats are in for me.... took me a long time to work out this result....

    0 miles

whoops. Its been far too damp and work far too busy. Chances are I will be the same next week.

Still, plenty of time to catch up
