Can I pick the brains of you more tech savvy folks.
Basically, I want two phones, two sim cards, one contract, and one phone number.
The back ground. I am a plasterer/ builder as a result I trash phones, so I would like a bargain basement cheap as chips phone to shove in my pocket poorly to take incoming calls whilst on the tools. When I trash it, I throw it away and get another, At the same time have an all singing and dancing phone that lives in the van to do the clever stuff when I need to. But I cant be doing with two numbers. In my mind two sims using the same number so both phones ring if there is an incoming call makes sense . But is it doable.

Orange used to offer it, not sure if any network does now. You need to ask the networks.

As above, Orange used to do that on a business plan but it wasn't cheap.

I doubt very much you'll find any domestic plan that'll offer 2 sims with the same number. You might find it on a business plan, but it'll cost.

What about a bluetooth earpiece to connect to the phone in your pocket means you can talk whilst working, doesn't solve the 2 sims for 1 number but would solve throwing phones away when they get trashed.
Can people stop loaning money/being a guarator to family/friends, it rarely ends well and you lose out as your money is gone or you get shafted with being a guarantor.

What about having two contracts, the decent phone can have your main sim in and then use a call divert to a cheap sim in the cheap phone? You'd only have to give out the number on the main phone with no need for data on the cheap one.

Edit: say a £5 Plusnet sim or similar in the cheapo?

Get a Skype number, any device logged into the Skype account can take calls.

I'm not aware of any network that'll give you two SIMs with the same number.

Most networks allow you to divert calls (from inclusive minutes to landlines/mobiles) - do this with your main number then set it to divert when your main mobile is switched off or after certain number of rings.

Buy a cheap PAYG mobile as your burner phone.

Can't you get a heavy duty case for your mobile that will protect it from the worst of the knocks and spills?
