Travelling to Plymouth for Funeral 26th Nov 17 at 8:26 AM
    Hi,

I am looking to travel to Plymouth from Prestatyn, North Wales for a funeral on the 8th December. Looking to travel down on the Thursday, 7th December. Return is coming in at £156.00,

Any way of making this cheaper?

    Many thanks

    James

That's about right for a walk on off peak fare.

You can easily save a bit by splitting tickets at Bristol Temple Meads. Possibly a bit more by splitting at Birmingham and maybe Cheltenham as well and there are more possibilities depending on how much experimenting you can do.

If you can commit to specific times look at advance tickets as well. They should be cheaper if available. You don't say when you are retuning so there's too many options but as an example Bristol to Plymouth can be had for £13 one way

I looked for you on new.trainsplit.com and it came up with a round trip fare of £123.25 based on departing Plymouth 7/12 15.25 arrive Prestatyn 21.49, returning depart Prestatyn 15.14 arrive 21.46.

Only one seat left at this price when I checked.

Hi, how about a coach instead of the train? Although they generally take longer the prices are usually far more reasonable.

If you have time to spare then combine train and coach.

    E.g. 1047 Prestatyn to Birmingham New Street - £18.50
Birmingham Coach Staton to Plymouth (National Express) - £10
    Arriving 2120.
