Slimming for Santa - Slimming World Support Thread 2017 31st Oct 17 at 8:07 AM
Shiny new thread, with all the info carried over as follows:-

Slimming World and Food Optimising is a plan for life, it's not a quick fix and you should look at weight losses over a period of time. There are no prizes for speed of weight loss.

You need to commit to making changes to the food that you buy and how you cook it, because what you've been doing in the past hasn't got you to where you want to be.

You can't use parts of the plan that suit you and forget the rest.

If you are not prepared to make a commitment to change the behaviour that has got you into your current situation then nothing is going to change, and above all things, you need to be honest and accountable for every single mouthful of food that passes your lips.

You need to care enough to take time out to pre-plan your slimming campaign. Look again at the menu plans and see the variety and volume of food you can eat. All you have to lose is the weight.

Slimming World has been successfully helping people lose weight for over forty years, so trust them and read your Food Optimising books again and again.

Food Optimising is easy but life isn't. Losing weight is a battle but you have the battle plan in your food optimising book, your secret weapon is free food, and that, together with your healthy extras and syns add up to a healthy way of eating that can (and should) be a life plan. Success is there waiting for you………go for it!

If you fancy having a go at EE, here are the official 'rules' to ensure that you not only lose weight regularly but get all the nutrition your body needs to function well:-

    Extra Easy:

    1: Choose your Free Food

Most of the food you eat should come from the free foods list – so that’s pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, poultry, fish, fruit and vegetables.

And for super-fast, super healthy results, fill one third of your plate with Speed Foods!

    2: Choose your Healthy Extras

Each day select one Healthy Extra ‘a’ choice and one Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice from our simplified list of calcium and fibre-filled foods, including milk, cheese, bread, nuts and cereal.

3: Enjoy 5-15 Syns each day

    -------------------------------------------------------------

If you find your weight loss has slowed down or stopped, check:-

    1. Whether everything you're counting as Free, is Free

    2. Whether you're under-estimating Syn values (over-estimate if guessing)

    3. Whether you're counting everything that should be counted

    4. Whether you're measuring everything that should be measured

    5. Whether you're sabotaging your success in any other way (using SAS logs will help uncover individual long-term self-sabotage patterns) and, if none of these is the culprit, either...........

A: increase the proportion of Speed Foods to half of your plate
B: switch to more Speed Foods

    or

C: try Extra Easy SP - details are on this link - https://www.minimins.com/threads/extra-easy-sp-plan.348340/

And above all, if you follow the plan, any plan, 100% you will lose weight!

Remember we are all here to support each other, and to have fun, and to share in any little disappointments.

Link to the List of Healthy Extras as at April 14

Good luck LLS for WI this evening. When we went to Butlins a few years ago I found the food wasn't too bad SW wise, although I did have cooked breakfast most days! Like you I love roast so had that most nights with fruit for pud. My downfall as usual was wine in the evenings!

I'm not a happy bunny today - put on 0.5lb and was hopeful of a loss as I've been really good this week! Although having looked up syns for the pastis it looks as though the syns have gone up by 1/2 syn from when I last checked but even all the halves wouldn't add up to the 20 syns I was short this week! This gain has put me out of top end of target range again. Onwards and upwards (or should that be downwards, LOL!)

Having a Green day today so 2 HEAs and 2 HEBs

    B - grapes after WI
L - LO gardeners pie from freezer - a good selection of veg topped with mashed potato and grated cheese on top (0.5 HEB1)
D - Linda Mc Rosemary & Red Onion sausages, mash, green beans, brussels, syn free onion gravy; rice pudding for pud

    HEA1 - milk (for tea)
HEA2 - milk (for rice pudding)
    HEB1 - 15g cheese; 2 Ryvita
HEB2 - not sure but maybe a couple of Alpen Lights if I need something this evening

I haven't been to Butlins for years but, being nosey, I looked up the menus lush. They look very SW friendly indeed. It would be really easy to eat well from that. Sometimes the cereals are in those little variety boxes but I wouldn't bother with them if I were you. I'd take a slice of bread (hopefully wholemeal) and some cheese or ham or both and make yourself a sandwich for later in the day.

Sorry to hear you gained denise. Keep plodding and all the good work will show in the end.

My morning was the complete opposite.

I lost 2lbs! Happy, happy, happy! That puts me back in target range and back to the weight I was before my holiday in July. I'm delighted and it couldn't be better timing going into Christmas. I'm still going to have as much SW friendly food as I can but I'm back in control and can choose when I go to my next WI.

Talk was all about Christmas today and how it can be SW friendly and how it's important to get back on plan as soon as you can if you decide to go flexi syn. One great tip that I might not use at Christmas but definitely through the year. This was to roll pieces of LM Red Onion sausages into balls to use as stuffing balls. I stuff my turkey with a very basic herb and breadcrumb mixture that my mother always made so the family would be disappointed if that wasn't on the menu but for a Sunday roast I'll definitely use the tip.

I'm out tonight at a Christmas party with a set menu but I just checked and I've chosen fairly wisely except that there will be wine syns and I'm having a cheeseboard again as I'm not really into puddings.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB Weetabix, HEA milk
L: JP with cottage cheese, spring onions, jalapenos and beetroot
D: salmon starter, cod main, cheeseboard.
Syns: probably too many but at least I'm back on 105 again!

Glad you enjoyed your lunch. Nothing worse than having syns that you don't enjoy. I'm looking forward to my cheese tonight.

+2.5lb for me so that loss last week has been cancelled out! I'm relatively fine with it though as I'm out so much at the moment so if I can maintain within a little bubble I've set myself than I shan't beat myself up.

Quite a lot is down to being ill. The thing is, I don't think I look any thinner. I still look in the mirror and see the same really fat person looking back

At what point have people started to feel thinner, or look thinner to themselves?

I prefer leggings to tights, I have a thin pair so they look a bit like tights but are more comfortable (I do by what is comfortable).

I would wear long boots, the longer the better.
