Slimming for Santa - Slimming World Support Thread 2017 31st Oct 17 at 8:07 AM
Shiny new thread, with all the info carried over as follows:-

Slimming World and Food Optimising is a plan for life, it's not a quick fix and you should look at weight losses over a period of time. There are no prizes for speed of weight loss.

You need to commit to making changes to the food that you buy and how you cook it, because what you've been doing in the past hasn't got you to where you want to be.

You can't use parts of the plan that suit you and forget the rest.

If you are not prepared to make a commitment to change the behaviour that has got you into your current situation then nothing is going to change, and above all things, you need to be honest and accountable for every single mouthful of food that passes your lips.

You need to care enough to take time out to pre-plan your slimming campaign. Look again at the menu plans and see the variety and volume of food you can eat. All you have to lose is the weight.

Slimming World has been successfully helping people lose weight for over forty years, so trust them and read your Food Optimising books again and again.

Food Optimising is easy but life isn't. Losing weight is a battle but you have the battle plan in your food optimising book, your secret weapon is free food, and that, together with your healthy extras and syns add up to a healthy way of eating that can (and should) be a life plan. Success is there waiting for you………go for it!

If you fancy having a go at EE, here are the official 'rules' to ensure that you not only lose weight regularly but get all the nutrition your body needs to function well:-

    Extra Easy:

    1: Choose your Free Food

Most of the food you eat should come from the free foods list – so that’s pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, poultry, fish, fruit and vegetables.

And for super-fast, super healthy results, fill one third of your plate with Speed Foods!

    2: Choose your Healthy Extras

Each day select one Healthy Extra ‘a’ choice and one Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice from our simplified list of calcium and fibre-filled foods, including milk, cheese, bread, nuts and cereal.

3: Enjoy 5-15 Syns each day

    -------------------------------------------------------------

If you find your weight loss has slowed down or stopped, check:-

    1. Whether everything you're counting as Free, is Free

    2. Whether you're under-estimating Syn values (over-estimate if guessing)

    3. Whether you're counting everything that should be counted

    4. Whether you're measuring everything that should be measured

    5. Whether you're sabotaging your success in any other way (using SAS logs will help uncover individual long-term self-sabotage patterns) and, if none of these is the culprit, either...........

A: increase the proportion of Speed Foods to half of your plate
B: switch to more Speed Foods

    or

C: try Extra Easy SP - details are on this link - https://www.minimins.com/threads/extra-easy-sp-plan.348340/

And above all, if you follow the plan, any plan, 100% you will lose weight!

Remember we are all here to support each other, and to have fun, and to share in any little disappointments.

Link to the List of Healthy Extras as at April 14

    Evening all
I’ve been horrifically lazy today! Was up early to get OH up for work and phone the doctors surgery for an appointment. Now when you ring you get a message saying you have to tell the receptionist why you want an appointment and they decide whether you can have an appointment or not! Luckily I’m not easily embarrassed I was given a nice early appointment and got sorted quickly with a prescription for a nice big bottle of liquid dynamite as I call it and I was pleased to find out it is in fact syn free I came home and waited for my lovely new wide neck flask to arrive from Amazon, which it did promptly thankfully. My plans of going to the library soon went astray when I fell asleep I’m at the rugby tomorrow night- I know it’s going to be a cold one when I’ve packed all three of my blanket scarves, my mini hot water bottle, my new flask and a shed load of tea bags No snow yet and I hope it blinking well stays that way- OH is at work tomorrow morning and if there’s even a threat of snow Arriva stop the buses through my village
SP day today- there’s absolutely pitifully little in the house, I mean virtually nothing until OH gets paid tomorrow and I get my PIP on Saturday- so I’ve been rifling through the freezer and cupboards
B: HEXB HiFi x 2, Apple, pear, decaf coffee (just the tiniest drop of milk)
L: 2 x bowls of Speedy ‘Heinz’ soup, 2 crackerbreads (2 syns) NAS Vimto
T: Salt and chilli Quorn made with 2 x bags cauliflower rice, onions, peppers, Quorn pieces and spices. I added extra chilli, garlic and a couple of spoons of sweet chilli sauce (1.5 syns) to give it a bit of extra kick. Fab lolly (4) hot NAS Vimto
S: HEXB bran flakes with HEXA topped with two satsumas, bag of Aldi salt and shake crisps (6.5 syns) flavoured tea
    Syns: 14
    Night all x

That's a massive loss for you Beanie; congratulations. I'm sure you knew you were due a big loss after weeks of only very small ones or none at all. I find the same thing happens to me sometimes.

Nicki - I think you were very restrained at the Christmas party! If you cut your syns back for the rest of the week you'll probably be able to still have a small loss or at least a maintain.

I decided to do what Maman has been doing with the alcohol! It was 3 G&Ts tonight rather than the usual 3 small glasses of wine so a few syns saved. Even within syns for the day which is unheard of for me on a Thursday evening - it's when my weekend starts.

Fab loss Beanie! Bubbs go find half a pound of butter/marg, whatever you've got - that's what you've lost! I'm a slow loser whatever I do but any loss is all in the right direction. That being said, I do get your disappointment.

Today was fine till this evening when plans went a bit awry and I've had a carb overload..wouldn't be surprised if a migraine is on the horizon as I have a host of weirdy symptoms beforehand including constant yawning, acute hearing, numb patches on my face and carb craving. All just in time for weigh in tomorrow...hey ho. Back tomorrow with the damage!

Great losses beanie and lush . I'm absolutely thrilled for you both!

I've probably asked before but how much more do you want to lose bubbs ? I'm sure you know the plan inside out but I will look carefully at your menus just in case. Haven't you had any tea tonight?

It's great how many syns you can save with gin denise . I know I'll be having a fair bit of wine at Christmas events but will try to substitute with gin whenever possible.

I'm out for a 3 course meal tomorrow lunchtime. It's a fancy place so the portions are small but I haven't seen a menu yet.

Hope your sleep did you good MrsR .

Some good losses again this week. Well done to all.

    Today's plan:

B - scrambled eggs on toast
L - butternut squash, sweet potato & red pepper soup (the potato was to thicken it up as I put too much stock in!)
D - sea bass; boiled potatoes; peas; there's a lemon, thyme & black pepper butter with it but not sure whether I'll use it or not. If I do I'll use the syn calculator to work out how many syns

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - lemon, thyme & black pepper butter (maybe); gin

Well done Lush and Mary Hinge, great losses there. Hope hospital goes OK Kathryn.

D Sausage mash and veg with onion gravy, yoghurt

    Tomorrow
B Bran flakes yog and fruit
L Don't know yet as lunch out - will do my best!
    D TBC

    Thanks guys

I made a veggie soup and had some cheese and ham sticks to dunk in for lunch

I've decided against the roast dinner, the chicken is roasting but I will strip it for salads and sandwiches and general snacking.... Dinner tonight is chicken jelfrezi and it tastes amazing! It's of the SW website but I added some extra chillies and the last of the "seen better days" mushrooms that needed using up! will have it with boiled rice, and salad shredded up small with maybe some mango chutney. Mr H will have a naan bread but I've had 5 syns already today so I probably wont fit one in!

meal planning at its best ignored it!
