Starting over... 15th Oct 17 at 10:13 PM
    Hi all!

It's been a while since I've used this website and forum, largely because I've been living abroad for a few years and BOY have I missed it! For the record, there's nothing remotely like MSE in Ireland and if I was much cleverer I would have loved to have started something similar.

The reason I'm rejoining the MSE clan is because in 12 weeks time (82 days to be exact) I'm moving back to Devon And while I'm really excited, I'm also extremely nervous to be starting over. I run a successful business here in Ireland that I'm hoping to bring over (but realistically it'll take at least 12 months to get to the same level - I'm a wedding singer if anyone needs one ), and the thought of being a 30-something who is going back to live with her mother is nauseating...

Financially I have no savings and £1700 on a credit card - I've put all my money into my business, so the plan is to save as much money as I possibly can before I move. I have a lot of work coming up but my day job is also self-employed so budgeting can be difficult while I wait for invoices to be paid.

I work mostly in the afternoons and evenings so I'm on the hunt for a temp morning or night time job for the next few months, but I'm also looking online for ways to earn a bit extra. I still have my UK bank account so I'm looking at doing the gambling websites using Top Cashback (I hate gambling so stopping after the minimum bet to get the cash back won't be an issue), and I write a bit in my spare time so I might try some of the task-based websites too.

Well, I think that's it for now. Wish me luck!

I feel much better now and much more prepared to tackle some more things today. Your finances look great, you should be able to come back to a complete fresh start with a buffer in place too.

    To do list:

    - prep for meeting with wedding couple on Sunday - the church they're getting married in will only allow sacred music and they're worried, part of my job is reassurance and giving them options so I need to check I'm covering all bases Done
    - find swap for volunteer shift on Saturday Done
    - email new client to set up invoicing account Done, ton of forms to fill out... to sing for one hour at one event - gotta love council red tape!
    - sort set lists for next week Done
    - rejig finances Done, and more work has come in today so I have to rejig again
    - start sorting songs for carolling Done - herding cats would be easier...
    - make a PAD Done - £5.89 on the card!
    - NSD (unless I see cheaper diesel) Done!

    And if I get time:
    - clean bedroom Nope
    - clean bathroom It always amazes me how the cleaning never gets done
    - start creating UK potential client database Just about to start on this
    - work out Done - 15 minutes of weights on my arms

I feel like I haven't stopped today! Had a fantastic gig today which always brightens my mood, and I solved a staffing problem for the event I'm working on tomorrow so the boss is asking me about my availability for some event management next month - doesn't look like I'll be slowing down anytime soon! My legs are DYING from my workout yesterday but I feel so much better for having done it. I won't do much over the weekend because my flatmates will be in and I'd feel pretty weird throwing my weights around when they're in the lounge

And because I'm trying to be super healthy my evening snack is natural yogurt with chia seeds and a bunch of grapes

Sooooo overnight the podcast app on my phone auto-updates and got rid of all of my subscriptions it's my main form of entertainment when I'm driving or running errands so I'm gutted!

Should be a good day today - one gig this afternoon then assisting at a black tie event tonight.

Just looking at finances, this month might be a bit squeaky - all my late payers have been in touch and confirmed they need to pay me, but I expect they'll be included in the next run at the end of the month, leaving me €550 (plus whatever I earn tonight) for the next three weeks, which normally would be totally fine, but my car is in for its service on Monday and two weeks today I fly to the UK to see friends and start setting up the business. If I just keep doing what I've been doing I'll be fine, and next month I'll have the funds to sort all my business expenses and put a buttload on the card

    To-do list for today:

    - Make PAD Already done - just a quid
    - NSD except fuel
    - Rebuild podcast library
    - Free up space on phone - it's nearly full!
    - Add to new client database

I think that's all I'll have time for today!

Morning! Set my alarm for 10am so very peeved to have woken up at 8..

    Update from yesterday...

    - Make PAD Already done - just a quid
    - NSD except fuel Almost - I took the car through the car wash because I'm going to a client's house today so an extra €6
    - Rebuild podcast library Getting there
    - Free up space on phone - it's nearly full! Done
    - Add to new client database Not done, no time!

The work last night was great fun and I earned an extra €132 to top up the kitty admittedly I *did* spend €13 on wine after so I'm €119 up. They want me to run a few events for the next month so if that pans out it'll be an extra €400 or so in the bank!

It's a nice easy work day today, meeting a client and that's it! I'm popping over to see my old neighbours afterwards which will be lovely.

A bit of a bummer is the mould I've discovered in my bedroom. We've had a really wet, mild winter in Cork so far and when I pulled out my shoes some of them were decidedly furry so at some point over the next few days I'm going to have to blitz the place and check every nook and cranny.

    Jobs for today:

    - Make a PAD
    - NSD
    - Continue with database
    - Research making the flat mould-free

Giving myself a bit of a rest day today

Just looking at my schedule for next week - it (hopefully!) isn't as crazy. A bit less work and I'm seeing three friends on my travels

A few things on the to-do list:

    - Get car serviced
    - Flu jab and pick up prescription
    - Order logo and favicon - very much dependent on if any of my invoices get paid
    - Create new email for UK business
    - Change social media - very much dependent on whether I Can order my logo!
    - Cost up starting business
    - Update CV
    - Finish database
    - Sort new supplier forms for council
    - Email to confirm final December gig
    - Buy present for friend's Secret Santa (£10 limit)
    - Clean bedroom and check everything for the dreaded mould
    - Clean bathroom
    - Get details for extra December work
    - Bake flapjacks and cake for friend

I'm only working four days so this should be doable!

Sounds like you have a busy week ahead although a couple of those things could be done quite quickly. Good luck on getting your logo sorted.

    Morning world!

Slept for 10 hours again last night - this is becoming a bit of a habit, I work and work all week and spend a loooong night catching up

I got a few bargains on the mini shop in Mr T this morning - my favourite toothpaste was 75% off so I bought enough to last me through to the end of the year, and F&F had a sale so I bought two pairs of pumps for work (I only sing in heels when I have to!) for a grand total of €4.78

I've got a long list today:

    - Car service Already done, €100 including a new side lamp bulb which leaves €100 in the budget for the wing mirror
    - Top-up shop Partly done, I need to finish this off this afternoon in town
    - Flu jab and pick up prescription
    - Work out/ 10,000 steps Half way there already!
    - Make a PAD
    - Clean kitchen
    - Clean Bedroom
    - Clean bathroom
    - Find recipes for baking tomorrow
    - Update finances
    - Check that Mr T points have been used up for ferry tix
    - Keep on with database
    - Invoices and posters
    - Email bride re: yesterday's meeting
    - Fill out supplier forms and send back to council
    - Buy friend's present for Secret Santa
    - Put dance shoes in for resoling

I think that's enough for today!

Having gone through my receipts, it's been quite a spendy day. Between the car service, shoe repair, flu jab and top up shop I've spent over €150 all absolutely necessary, but nobody's paid me over the weekend so things are looking a teeny bit hairy unless I get some payments in before I head away next Saturday...

    Ugh. Anyway.

    Tomorrow:

    - batch cook roasted butternut squash soup
    - batch cook pasta sauce
    - bake cake
    - bake flapjacks
    - wash floors
    - keep on with the database (I've broken the back of it now)
    - sort out prescription
    - create email for uk business
    - make sure my Christmas dress still fits me
    - send off old insurance cert
    - cost start up and marketing
    - work out
    - chase people for late payments (again)

Few little bits of good news so far today - someone has informed me they've sent €250 to my account, hopefully that'll be with me tomorrow - that's enough to buy my logo, domain name and website! - and I should have at least two other invoices paid by the end of the week not huge amounts, but enough to take the immediate pressure off!

And Irish Ferries have emailed confirming they've accepted my Mr T voucher codes, so instead of them costing almost €600, they've come to a grand total of €277.75!! Which means that the business costs this week will immediately be offset by the ferry savings

Oh, and my CC company is offsetting all my mini payments against my minimum payment for the month so I actually don't have one this month... not sure if this is standard practice or not?

Off to a gig, I think the only thing that won't get done on my to do list is the cleaning - what a surprise!

    - bake cake Done
    - bake flapjacks Done
    - wash floors Surprise surprise, not done
    - keep on with the database (I've broken the back of it now) Done
    - sort out prescription Done - €55.63
    - create email for uk business Not done, long story short I need my UK mobile sorted first...
    - make sure my Christmas dress still fits me Done, and it does - phew!
    - send off old insurance cert Not done as I've another thing that needs to get posted, they're ready to go first thing tomorrow
    - cost start up and marketing First stage done
    - work out Done - 20 minutes lower body
    - chase people for late payments (again) Done (it's so bloody tedious to do this every month)

I've also done three lots of laundry! Another productive day

A couple of hiccups today though - my flatmates have decided they want to move, which means I have to move if they find somewhere. Three moves in five months will have me tearing my hair out! The other thing is just a general frustration with sorting out the business - I have to get my UK number up and running before I can sort out my email, I need to sort out my email to sort the website etc; and I keep blooming flip-flopping on the new name.

I only have a few things to get done tomorrow so I'm just going to try and switch my brain off for the evening...

    Morning!

I've woken up tired today but luckily I'm off to see a new baby which is super exciting My friend lives 90 minutes away so I'm heading up to see her (with the cake and flapjack I baked yesterday), then this evening I have a Society rehearsal for carolling.

If I'm honest, I'm feeling a bit of a negativity hangover from last night but I'm going to do my best to just enjoy today.

    To do today:

    - PAD
    - NSD (only exception may be a glass of wine after rehearsal)
    - send off banking and insurance forms
    - update CV
    - rejig set list
    - email my pianist
    - make sure I'm organised for for rehearsals
    - work out / 10k steps

Oh no not good about your flatmates looking to move, hopefully they can hold out just a little longer. Would you be able to stay on until you leave or is that just not possible?

Good luck with your list today.

Thanks DFD. I'm subletting the room from them (no idea if it's been ok's by the landlord or not, but I had no choice at the time) so I will have to move with them if they find somewhere... They found a lovely place today apparently but were pipped to the post. Right now I'm extremely grateful the market is so competitive!

I've managed to create more stress for myself as well - while trying to finalise the diary for next month I've realised I've double booked myself TWICE I've never done this before in my life! I can only put it down to my life being in such upheaval since July. I pride myself on my organisation and I'm so blooming annoyed with myself. Currently waiting on a few call backs so one way or another I'm hoping I'll have it sorted by end of business tomorrow, but still - what a plank!!!

    - Volunteer shift Already done
    - PAD Done, just a quid
    - NSD Done
    - Email / FB new musical society members Not done
    - Bank cheque Banked two!
    - Update CV Not done
    - Workout / walk 10k steps Nor this
    - Sort more lyrics and tracks for carolling Nope
    - Get started on flyer for UK business You can see a pattern start developing
    - Refasten hook and eye on dress Nopity nope
    - Rejig finances I actually can't do this until tomorrow when I know if my double booked gig can be rescheduled or not
    - Meeting re: December event management work Done
    - Gig Done

I wouldn't normally give up on such a long list still to do, but it's been an exhausting day and I'm admitting defeat with a cup of tea and Netflix

    Morning!

I only slept for between 5-6 hours last night, it's going to be a long day but I'm heading to have dinner with a friend this evening, haven't seen him for about eight months so I'm looking forward to a catch up (won't be a NSD, however!). Only other spend planned for today is filling up the car - diesel has gone up 4c per litre this week so it'll be painful

Any hoo, my to do list looks like this:

    - reschedule / cancel my dumb dumb double bookings (still annoyed with myself)
    - connect with members of Musical Society
    - update CV
    - Sort lyrics and tracks for carolling
    - Refasten hook and eye on dress
    - Rejig finances
    - Start on PDF version of flyer
    - Blitz room
    - PAD
    - Gig
    - Fill up car

    Alright, let's do this!
    [COLOR=Navy]Debt 14/04/12: £15736.77
    Debt 09/12/14 ZERO POUNDS
    Debt 15/10/17: £1714.40
    Debt 14/11/17: £1631.61
