Changing Joint Ownership 11th Oct 17 at 8:59 PM

My partner and I are unmarried, and bought a house a few years ago together. We are now looking to move, but our plan was always to buy a 2nd property and rent out our first.

With the new rules on stamp duty, we wonder if we could transfer the first property so it was just owned by one of us, and then buy the new house in the other name so that we each own one property.

Would there be any stamp duty owed due to the change in ownership % on the first property?

    Thanks for advice.
