O2 roaming price increase outside of Europe Zone 11th Oct 17 at 9:46 AM
    Hi all,
I have received a following text from O2 recently:
Travel news: from November we're increasing standard roaming prices and rates to include VAT if you use your phone outside our Europe Zone.

Then a link to o2 website:

Important news for roaming charges From 1 November, we’ll need to add VAT to roaming rates outside of our Europe Zone. This means a few changes:

Call charges for all destinations outside of our Europe Zone will now be £2 a minute
Text charges for all destinations outside of our Europe Zone will now be 50p a text
Data charges for all destinations outside of our Europe Zone will now be £7.20 per MB
O2 Travel in Turkey will go up from £3.99 to £4.99
Roaming in our Europe Zone will still be part of your tariff. Find out more

We’ll also be reducing the price of O2 Travel Rest of The World for business customers, to £4.16 ex VAT, so you won’t pay any more than you do today. With access to over 64 destinations O2 Travel really does give you more countries and better value than any other network. Find out more about O2 Travel

Call charge increases will start from 12 midnight local time on 1 November. If calls started on 31 October and ended on 1 November you’ll be charged the old rate. Text and data charge increases will start from 12 midnight GMT on 1 November

Does it mean that I'm allowed to cancel my contract early without any fee?

I believe not as these are extra-contractual charges. ie these calls are not included within your contract.

The addition of VAT for roaming in non-EU destinations is due to a decision and announcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
