Hambro Countrywide Assured 7th Oct 17 at 3:31 PM
I was sold PPI by Hambro Countrywide Assured through an independent financial advisor for my NatWest Mortgage in 1997. Having contacted them in their new guise, I have received no reply. I was young (!) and was told I needed to have protection against my mortgage payments in case I lost my job. It was only about 10 years later when I remortgaged, did I drop the policy because i was then advised it wasn't a requirement of my [new] mortgage company.

Has anyone else had any experience of dealing with Hambro Countrywide Assured and offer any advice on how to get through to them? Many thanks.

However you might well find that a 1997 sale is pre-regulation and will get you nowhere.

That is quite interesting as Countrywide Assurance was a life company and sold life assurance. Not PPI. Indeed, I recall posts in the past where people said they complained to them and the response they got was that they dont do PPI (which you expect from a life assurance company as PPI is a general insurance product - there are only a few hybrids that do both).

You dont. They are the product provider. Not the retailer.

You would complain to the IFA. Although IFAs only became regulated for insurance in 2005. So, they dont have to consider your complaint. And that assumes it is even PPI.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Comments are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice. Different people have different needs and what is right for one person may not be for another. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.
