Extra PPI Refunds. 2nd Oct 17 at 2:20 PM
Hi all around four years back i claimed over twenty grand back
from various loans and cards. On friday i received out of the blue
a cheque from barclays for just shy of 2700 pounds . Seems that
they miscalculated the interest. Now today i received a letter from
Egg Canada square saying you can reclaim from us . As in my first claim they said no , being that I had got the bulk of my money back
I let it go ,seems to me the that they are all checking previous claims
which could be good news for a lot of people.

Are they actually offering redress, or are they inviting you to complain under Plevin?

Looks that way a Supreme court ruling has changed things according to the letter.

a cheque from barclays for just shy of 2700 pounds . Seems that

Barclays were instructed to go back on some old complaints and recheck the work and calculations. They have also been brining a lot of pre-computer data online for their complaint handlers to see that was not available previously.

Now today i received a letter from
Egg Canada square saying you can reclaim from us . As in my first claim they said no , being that I had got the bulk of my money back

They are not all checking previous complaints. Some have been instructed to.

Was this a previously rejected complaint that has now been switched to an uphold decision or is it a part refund based on the Plevin ruling?

Looks that way a Supreme court ruling has changed things according to the letter.
The plevin ruling is the only court case for many years. So, this would suggest that its a part refund of the excess commission above 50%.

dunstonh, a question for you if you don't mind. In your response above you mention that Barclays have been "bringing a lot of pre-computer data online for complaint handlers to see that was not previously available."

Can I ask if you mean microfiche records, how far back, and where did you hear or read about this? Apparently, they cannot locate my Barclaycard account even with the number. Many thanks

From what I have heard, it was old paper stored docs that never got onto microfiche but were in unsorted warehouse storage.
