    Are there any alternatives that work in a similar way messaging and sharing pics etc, but dont connect to all your contacts.

    I want one where I have to manually add my friends to it (Obviously they would need to install the app too).

    Thanks for any replies
    The instructions on the box said 'Requires Windows 7 or better'. So I installed LINUX

    Whatsapp doesn't connect to all your contacts if you don't want it to. I have it and it is only connected to one of my contacts.
