Too early to change Special Occasions to the Christmas board? 19th Sep 17 at 11:02 AM
It's only 19 September and I really don't want to admit summer's over but is it time to change the Special Occasions board to the Christmas board? (long time forum members will know we do this each year).

    Your thoughts please!

    Do it now?

    Wait till October?

Sooner the better IMO! - I saw my first mountain of mince pies in a local supermarket this weekend and I'd like to see Christmas Discussion kept in one place till maybe Christmas Eve/Boxing day when it would be acceptable on the wider forum.

To be honest I like thinking about it now, to spread the cost and the workload!

In addition, if people are looking to make presents, doing projects etc, they need to be starting from about now

I don't care what you do .... I'm most likely to pop out to the shops 1-2 days before the day and grab some random veggies and a turkey breast... and a bag of sweeties. Xmas Done.

There's been a 'Christmas 2017' thread running since last Christmas Eve.
And there's 5 Christmas-related threads running on the first page of this board.

TBH, I'm quite surprised that Christmas is not 'in your face' in most shops.

    I'd change the title now.

I think change it now - If anyone is looking ideas or information on deals, it's more cost effective and moneysaving that way

Why change it at all? There are celebrations throughout the year, not just Christmas. I've never understood the need to change it!

I'm confused why this keeps coming up on my User CP as a new post when the last post was made almost 2 weeks ago.

The thread title has now been changed so isn't that the end of it?

Hi Pollycat. Do any other threads do that?

Also, are you using the old green version of the forum?

    Thanks, Andrea.

No, as far as I'm aware, this is the only thread that seems to keep popping up in my User CP with the title in bold (which means - I believe - that there is a new post on the thread).

And yes, I'm using the old version.

ETA: I did wonder if it was because posters are still voting in the poll.

It's not a problem, I just like to understand why something is happening.

Thanks! Could you check it in the blue and let us know if it's the same?

I'm afraid I have to admit that I don't know how to get to the new blue version (and would prefer to stay on the old version).

The thread has just appeared right now at the top of my User CP as though a new post has been made even though you last posted over 3 hours ago and I read your post straight away.

TBH, it's not an issue for me so I'll just unsubscribe from the thread.

    Thanks anyway.

Ah ok, it sounds like it's a delay in the forum keeping up. We're on a very old version of Vbulletin and it happens!

As a long-term user you should be able to switch between the two forum skins so you can take a look and switch back if you want to.

We switched someone over the other day who was very grateful for being on the blue rather than the green!

To switch (and switch back) scroll down your User CP settings to where it says "Forum version manager" and click "manage version"
