Single mortgage or joint with ex-bankrupt? 16th Sep 17 at 9:10 PM
My family and I are in our 3rd property, each (mortgage and ownership) thus far has only been in my name as my wife was made bankrupt through no fault of her own ~8 years ago. We're now looking to move again, this time for good! As such we want to stretch to the nicest house we can afford.

I understand that the record of bankruptcy is removed from your credit history after 5 years, and we've been working to build up her rating which is now quite good. However I think mortgage lenders do a search which still uncovers it, and ask on the application 'have you ever been bankrupt?'

She only works part time anyway for ~£12k p.a., so my question is, are we likely to be able to borrow more if we go joint this time, or shall I again just go solo?
