    So Wednesday morning I went to withdraw cash from the machine. Machine tells me no funds available despite Balance showing £129. Wasn't the end of the world but was a bit confused so when i got home I checked my online banking and it says balance £129 available funds £4.70.

    I contacted Co-op and just got the standard reply that you have pending transactions blah blah blah, they apparently cannot see what they are for when they are pending, fair enough.

    Trouble is I have no outstanding debit card transactions, all my DDs and SO already came out.

    Thursday - still pending
    Friday - still pending, by this time I need cash so had to ask my sister to lend me some.

    So today, three days later the balance available is now showing the whole £129 (as i expected).

    Has this happened to anyone else? I want a proper explanation from the Co-op but don't really expect to get a satisfactory reply.

    A pending transaction is an earmark against your account. Sometimes the earmark remains longer than the actual transaction. Sometimes an earmark can be made against the account in error (someone using the wrong card number for example).

    They drop off after 5 days.

    I am surprised that the COOP cannot see pending payments. It does seem a limitation on their system. I know with Barclaycard they can see what pending payments are, it shows up on the app. When you spoke to the COOP and queried the £129 did you ask for access to funds or have you been able to get money elsewhere that you need?

    I borrowed money from my sister, I just find it all rather strange, the last actual transaction on my account was over a week before, it just doesn't seem right.

    £129 minus £4.70 equals £124.30.

    Sometimes a transaction is submitted twice by the retailer by mistake and the second is taken off the available balance for a few days.

    Did you recently make a transaction for this amount?
