Car hit when parked advice please 16th Sep 17 at 11:31 AM
    Hi
My wife's car was hit when parked on the road and we noticed it a few days later as she no longer drives it due to recently changing jobs and getting a company van.

This was a few weeks ago and we recently had it serviced and asked the mechanic to get some quotes so could see if worth doing privately as no note was left etc.

It is going to cost around £1000 as needs a new door skin etc

How long after a non fault accident can we claim through insurance?

    Thanks in advance

If you claim on your insurance it will be a "fault" claim (meaning your insurer cannot recover its outlay off any liable third party)

You should be able to claim ok - there is no detriment to your insurer that this is a late claim as it always going to be a fault claim had you claimed any earlier (unless your policy stipulates a time limit to claim)

Does it "need" repairing, what actually needs replacing - can you get a replacement door from a scrapyard / ebay ?

Looked at option of door but looking at £150 for door then 300-400 to fit paint etc.
We are looking to sell so needs sorting as will be easier to sell and more valuable

Also wife has company car so not looking to reinsure next year

    Thanks for the advice

The "right colour" doors are usually available on ebay etc
