Broadband compatibile with Virgin's coaxial cable? 15th Sep 17 at 8:14 PM
I have my broadband with Virgin (72 Mbps) and their prices are going up again in November.
    I'd like to switch, but...

I have their coaxial cable concealed in the floor, running from where their line enters the house (and where a small box is installed) to where the router is (and where I want it to be - the location of the router is important as I'm going to have an ethernet cable running from it through the garden to the shed).

From what I see most broadband providers don't use fibre but rather phone lines (their rates mention "line rental [not] included") so I'm assuming I wouldn't be able to re-use the concealed cable and would have to lay another (phone) cable and go through the hassle of concealing it again.

Am I correct in my assumption and is there a way around it? Maybe a fibre provider that would work with my existing cable?

Thanks, that's bad news for me.

I don't have a BT line, never needed one as I applied for Virgin straight away when I moved in.

Ring them up and tell them it's too expensive.

    They are doing deals
