Printer for card? 15th Sep 17 at 11:55 AM
So I ned a cheap printer for occasional use that must print colour on thin card.
Have had Epson and HP in the past but none seemed to like loading card.

Sometimes not even the printer specification comments about the highest weight paper or card that it can print.

Usually printing on card of 150 gsm or 200 gsm needs a straight-as-possible paper path from a rear cassette or stack, rather than from a paper tray beneath the printer.

"Check out" both the specs for the greatest weight of card printable, and the availability of a rear cassette...

If it's seldom enough, have you considered using a library, if you have one, or the services of a high-street shop ? eg ryman web page says they'll print on 150gsm card for 24p per page.

Obviously it depends what else you're printing, but inkjets seem to need regular exercise to keep them functioning.

Ouch! My library is 50p for A4 colour (which still seems steep).

it's proably still useful if you quantify roughly how many pages you'll be printing per month - some people recomment HP's instant-ink, but I think that's based on predicting how many pages you'll be printing per month.

EDIT: BTW sorry, I'm not in a position to make any kind of recommendation on printers myself.

My HP5646 prints thin card (220g/m2) and with Instant Ink @£1.99 per month for up to 50 sheets it is cheap to run.

I believe Staples offer cheap printing in store.

I have a Canon MG5650 printer which is used regularly and without any problems printing on 160 gsm card
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

OK thanks, will look at the Cannons. We just use the printer at home, guess 30 pages a month, plus about 100 A5 cards three times ayear.
