Hi, I've sent a prove it letter to Lowells last week regarding an old debt I know nothing about.

What are the next steps? Do I follow this up with another letter, if so what content should it have?

If they can't prove it would they remove the default off my file without another prompt?

If they can or can't prove it would it be a good idea to issue a statue bar?

    Wait for them to respond.

You don't issue a 'statue bar'. Statute barring occurs automatically if the debt is not acknowledged for 6 years.

If you believe it is not your debt, then raise a dispute with the CRA to have it removed.

the original debtor didn't place any default by the looks of things. Lowells have been putting them on there for some time now. Should they be removed as the original debt is older than 6 years?
