Debt and anxiety & depression 13th Sep 17 at 11:23 AM
Long story short......i've suffered with anxiety and depression since i was 6 and from the age of 18 i racked up debts and spent way too much when i was having very low periods. all of my debts were paid off in may but i now have 3k on my credit cards due to depressive periods and i just don't know how to get myself out of this depressive spend hole.

does anyone have any words of wisdom which i can help to establish a healthier relationship between spending and depression/anxiety?

Firstly are you seeing anyone about your depression? They may have some ideas of how to go forward. The only thing I can think of is to cancel cards, or have a very low limit allowing for emergencies.

Is there someone close enough to you who you will give the card to once your bout of depression starts?

    Thank you for replying.

Yes I've had therapy and am on medication but have booked an appointment with my doctor again today so I will hopefully be able to get help with how I'm feeling at the moment.

I've just taken out a 0% card to transfer the debt onto and have given my partner my credit card so that it's not in my purse. He was not very pleased with me but at least I'm a told him now and can get this under control.

Speak to your GP have you ever had CBT?
Not words of wisdom but I've been in the same place with depression and it's a vicious circle.
I'm now on a dmp so ruined credit and cards cut into pieces. I'm a card holder on my husbands account for emergencies - but as I have to be accountable there's no chance of me spending for the sake of it.
Transfer to your 0% card and get rid of them.
