    Fun fact for 2017

Fun fact for 2017 12th Sep 17 at 4:45 PM
I think this is pretty amazing, and it only happens every 1000 years apparently.

Add your age this year (even if you've not had your birthday yet - put the age you will be) plus your year of birth, and it will add up to 2017.

I've forgotten how old I am.

Well I'm fifty next year - as my son told me on New Year's Day this year! As well as his Corrie obsession, he is also obsessed with birthdays and ages. I've a few more weeks until I'm 49, but of course I had to add my age (later this year) to the year I was born, and yes, it works!

And last year it would come to 2016 and next year it will come to 2018.

I'm not completely surprised that taking a year and adding the number of years ago from this year that is gives you this year.

Of course it will only work this year, just like next year is the only year it will work for the answer to come out as 2018

Well, my son thought that it was a great fact - he spent ages checking family birthdays.

A similar one I came across is that if you take the last two numbers of your birth year, and add them to the age you are now, adding 1 if you have not yet had your birthday, the number will always be 117.

E.g. Someone born in say 1962, take 62 add current age say 54 add 1 as they haven't yet had their birthday = 117.

This was first mooted in 2011, when the number would always come to 111, which seemed a bit more magical.
