Tenancy advice needed please! 12th Sep 17 at 2:56 PM
    Hi,

We are in a tenancy agreement that finishes on 25th January 2018. In July we emailed the agency to ask the landlord if he would let us out of our tenancy early on the basis that we pay for re-marketing fees and move out the day before the new tenant moves in to avoid any rental loss. On 24th August we had a call from the agency to say a new tenant had been found and that they wanted to move in on 31st August. We were on holiday so flew back and started the process of moving out, finding a new property, getting it professionally cleaned and signed a new tenancy and got the keys to our new place on 30th. On the morning of the 31st, the day the new tenant was moving in, we got a call from the agency to say that the tenant (who had paid the deposit and passed references) has been rejected by the landlord and wanted to lettings agency to find a new tenant. It's been 12 days since then and they still have not found a new tenant which leaves us viable to keep paying the rent. We simply cannot afford it and feel like we have been completely stitched up as we had to move out to allow the new tenant to move in.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!!!

    Thank you

interesting, I would say that you have a case as the agent works on behalf of the LL.

They indicated your tenancy would end on the 31st August, so assuming you have not moved back in, I wouldn't pay anything more

If you did all this on the basis of a phone call you are now at the mercy of what exactly you and the agent claim was said......
