    Intel Core i5 or i7 CLI 8th Sep 17 at 10:11 AM
I'm a bit confused about these 2 CPU's, I have read that the i5 has a GPU but the i7 doesn't. Bearing in mind that the motherboard these would be fitted to has a VGA port - do they each support an display from the VGA port even if it is just to see the BIOS or POST?

I am planning on building a headless server so don't realy need any graphic capability but it is useful to be able to access the BIOS.

I'm assuming the GPU (or an attached graphics card) is just to run a GUI like Windows?

    Thanks

I thought they all had igp apart from the Xeon range specifically designed for servers ??

Just because a board has a VGA port doesnt mean the CPU you fit will have onboard video.

I have an ASUS B350+, Socket AM4 it has VGA, DVI and HMDI ports but my 1700 CPU doesnt have onboard video. But other CPU's in the range may have onboard video.

If your building a server does the CPU and MB support ECC memory?
