Erroneous utility transfers 7th Sep 17 at 2:42 PM
Daughter moved into student rental on 1 sept 2017 had set up her own energy supply on a dual fuel deal at a great price with scottish power take over date was 12 sept. on 2nd sept before it was taken over by sp from british gas and sse, a company called Snowdrop energy hyjacked it and took it over. problem is now when snowdrop return gas/elec to british gas and sse who will have to put her on standard rate which is way more than she would have been paying with her new supplier scottish power.
Can she get compensation from somewhere for the price difference and the stress/calls etc that have had to be made?

Probably not an erroneous transfer as such. Doubtless the ones responsible here will be the LL/LA who would be getting a kickback. Technically Snowdrop have likely done nothing wrong but are probably guilty of dubious marketing practices to LLs/LAs.

This technique is called slamming. Described here. https://www.ukpower.co.uk/home_energy/energy-missellingDon't know where you'd turn for compensation. Maybe Ofgem would know

Slamming is not quite so prevalent these days. This sounds like the classic student let LL/LA signing them up for a kick back especially as they seem to be linked to Split The Bills.
