    DW sports/Soccerdome Wigan Parking Charge

DW sports/Soccerdome Wigan Parking Charge 7th Sep 17 at 11:42 AM
We recently attended the DW Soccerdome in Wigan and they had installed Parking Eye (the first time we had been since this was installed). The parking fee of £3 was paid for the parking for 2 hours and were back in time before this elapsed. A couple of weeks later we got a letter with a £100 fine for not paying the parking fee. Luckily we had kept the parking ticket and it was then we noticed that we put the first 2 digits of the registration in incorrectly as we were rushing. We send Parking Eye a copy of this ticket and they said they will reduce the fee to £20. We objected to this again to state that we had paid the parking fee and it was displayed and it was just an admin error which we advised a Court would agree with. They have now come back to me again to reject our appeal.

They have now provided us with a POPLA ref to appeal this but we are just wondering what information we should or should not put in this appeal as we are loathed to pay this fee.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Very similar thread on here in the last week. The view is that you might lose POPLA, but stand a better chance in court, but not guaranteed.

Split views from regulars with some taking the view that £20 was a pragmatic move. But you have probably lost that opportunity now.

Could be argued to be the PPC's fault, not that this wins at POPLA but I want you to see this in another light:

Luckily we had kept the parking ticket and it was then we noticed that we put the first 2 digits of the registration in incorrectly, as the keypad and screen were in bright sunlight, and the key identifiers were faded, and the keys are very small (not a qwerty keyboard as one would be used to)...

Anyway POPLA templates are in the NEWBIES thread.

Is the PCN one that has a paragraph on the back about the POFA 2012? Important!

Did you say who was driving, in the drop-down menu and did you choose an appeal reason that gives away ''I put the VRN in wrongly''?

PRIVATE PCN? DON'T PAY BUT DO NOT IGNORE IT TWO Clicks needed for advice:
Top of the page: Home>>Forums>Household & Travel>Motoring>Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking - read the 'NEWBIES' FAQS thread!
Advice to ignore is WRONG, unless in Scotland/NI.
