I recently discovered a phone app called Weekengo. It allows you to select which airport you want to fly from then it will recommend destinations, with prices for flights and hotels. You can filter the results and it also allows you to change hotels. I've never booked through it but it's a good place to start to get ideas.

I've just opened it and for the next 6 weeks it's suggesting Costa Brava, Istanbul, Nice, Cork and Tolouse for less than £200 per person for 2 nights. That's flying from airports local to me.

Whilst Florence does have it's own airport for Liverpool or Manchester you'd have to fly into Pisa- from there it's easy to get to Florence on the train.

Unfortunately looking at those dates Ryanair have sold out on their flights and Easyjet on the outward to Pisa but Jet2 still have availability.

We flew to Bologna from Manchester and stayed in a studio booked via Wimdu and it was a cheap and enjoyable long weekend. Easy quick bus ride from the airport as well.
