    I wannabe debt free at 30! 6th Sep 17 at 4:55 PM
Hi everyone, this is my first time post but I've been a long time reader of the MSE website & forum. I have been reading some of the debt diaries for a while & have decided to take the plunge & write one myself! Before DS was born in 2014 I had never been in debt but due to quite a large drop in my income being on statutory maternity pay, then returning to work part time & then having another baby I have had to rely on credit & my overdraft
My debt is currently £10139.09 & I have set myself a goal to try & pay this off during 2020 (when I'm 30). Hoping that writing a diary will keep me on track!

Hi and welcome I had my DS when I was much older than you (36) and accumulated a lot of debt just on paying bills. That with a part time income now is a struggle to pay them off. But there are lots of tips and help and support on here and the little things add up. Post your SOA and people will suggest where you can save. The Debt Free Challenges forum is good too.

    Good luck on your journey.

So today I have been busy sorting through the children's wardrobes, which is something I have been meaning to do for a while. I have taken out clothes that won't be worn again because they are too small or were summer clothes. Plan is to list items on eBay & hopefully make a few pennies.

Finished sorting through the children's clothes - they have so much stuff! I have listed about 20 items on eBay so far and quite a bit more to list. I have challenged myself to a "no spend weekend" so I'll see how I get on!

No spend weekend was a success! Just looked through my spending diary & realised I have only spent money on bills or out of the grocery budget so far so feeling pleased Have some items ending on eBay later & a couple already have bids, will be glad to have some more space in the house & make a few pennies. Or pounds hopefully!

Sold 5 things on eBay last night, only kids clothes but made about £29 profit. Sorted my eldest's bedroom this morning & found a few more things to put on eBay at some point. Still haven't spent anything this month other than bills & groceries which have their own budget. Luckily no birthdays this month to buy for however next 3 months will be busy with birthdays & Christmas!

Had abit of success yesterday - I rang Lloyds regarding my overdraft and explained I was struggling to pay off the fees and interest let alone the balance and wanted to come to a solution of how I could pay this. They agreed to freeze the fees and interest on my overdraft (about £35 a month). They also paid £100 off my overdraft as a goodwill gesture! Feeling very pleased as with the new overdraft charges from November 2017 I would have been spiralling into more debt. I still have to pay £1935 back but least I have some time to pay this off and no interest or fees.

£28.88 made on eBay so far this month, doesn't sound like much but only sold 5 things so far. Still have loads to sell but it's finding the time! Started my Christmas shopping today with buying some bargain toys on offer in Tesco reduced to clear.

Had my second no spend weekend in a row, I think the rubbish weather is definitely helping! Listed some more things on eBay, hoping to make £50 this month from selling stuff - fingers crossed!

Nothing new to report, nothing paid debt wise this week as I am totally skint until pay day at the end of the week... Third no spend weekend in a row. Getting the hang of not spending on unnecessary things
