Like say for example one shift ended at 8pm and your next shift started at 09.30pm

I think mine would be one shift ended at 8pm the next one started at 07.45am so 11 hours 45 minutes

I'd bet that some healthcare staff do 2 consecutive shifts sometimes.

You nearly got a sensible answer till I checked your posting history and realised you're just another hbk AE.
    I'm out.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Why are you posting such random questions across this forum?
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

9hours if doubling back, or straight through if two shifts in a row, or if on call have 2 hours between one shift ending and on call starting
