BTW with the https://www.barcodesinc.com/free-barcode-font/ 3of9 font you need to use * before and after text for the header and footer to be recognised by many scanners

OP never stated the reason for using barcodes. You have assumed it is for selling products. That is only one of a myriad uses for them.

I use them for my own stock control of rented items, so I know what is where, etc. Just faster than writing down a serial number if there's a lot going out

I'm unsure though whether they come as an actual barcode or just as a list of numbers that I need to turn into a barcode, is this the route you have gone down?

Unforeseen - I bought it up as this is a useful too for anyone searching this forum for barcodes anyway as it makes for interesting read. We are supposed to be here to help and advise when not asking ourselves.

It would be helpful to know what the OP intends to do with the barcodes he needs ??
I used an online barcode generator for homemade items in a deli, picles jams etc.
The barcodes were set up in my cash registers.
However they could not be read by anybody elses barcode reader.

Firefox, they will be printed directly onto greetings cards (not onto stickers) to be sold via Amazon and also to small shops via agents.

Mupette, I have bitten the bullet and registered and got my first 1,000 barcodes this morning, they give you credits for the PDFs of the first three barcodes then after that you need to buy more credits if you want them to create them.

I will probably buy the first dozen or so from them as I'm a bit of a scaredy cat and don't want to end up having to reprint or sticker over if I go with a cheaper option that doesn't read correctly, I may look around once I get a bit more confident with them.

I use this website http://online-barcode-generator.net/ which generates free barcodes based on the EAN code.

I take the EAN code from GS1 and it creates the barcode image perfectly well.

GS1 seems expensive, what is the advantage against someone like http://www.barcodesmania.co.uk/
    ?
