Only a rumour that they held back the announcement until the holidays in case the DUP issued a Petition of Concern to block it.

Never seen an episode either, is it not a bit crap though? Know a few people who watch it but say its still not great.

Game of Thrones on the other hand, outstanding TV

So the new Doctor Who is a woman.

Bet she'll keep bringing up the past.

Watched it from childhood. The wailing from the fanboys is funny.

Sisters are doing it for themselves.

Was she unopposed? Even more in need of an explanation.

    Due respect
Due respect to Jodie, but whilst she may be 'a woman' she looks quite androgynous so I am not sure there is much to fuss about either way...

NB No offence was intended by the above remark.

I haven't watched dr who since I was at school. The silly plots, the flimsy sets. The boring buffoons who go to dr who conventions dressed as cyber men and the like. No odds to me who gets the part.

Watched it as a kid then a bit in the David Tennant/Matt Smith period but lost interest. Seems like a 'tick the box' exercise to me, particularly since the Chris Chibnail said he intended it to be a woman right from the start. So she didn't get it for being the best person for the job, but on being the best woman for the job. Positive discrimination at work, but let's call it 'equality'.
