    Halifax iOS app.......yuck 17th Jul 17 at 11:17 AM
I've just switched a joint account from First Direct to Halifax, not because of any issues with FD but just to get the £125 switching reward. I have already decided I don't like Halifax. The online banking and banking app are just so in your face and messy that I have already decided pretty much to move the account back to FD in a few weeks. The only thing at the bank of my mind is the £3 a month reward....

Exactly what is it you don't like? I can't say I have any serious issues with the Halifax app, it's better than others I have used, like HSBC and Coop.

It just appears too messy. Adverts all over it for other accounts, the flowers on the opening screen, overdraft options on the front screen. Maybe i'm just used to the clean cut FD app

Every time a bank changes web site layout I struggle. The adjust. Then grow comfortable and learn to like.

There's nothing wrong with the Halifax app. It probably provides the most online functionality of any provider.

    You'll adjust.

If anything, I find FD backwards.

I like the Halifax Android app and site. Not keen on First Direct's offerings!

Thumbs up for the Halifax app here too.
Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and it's forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.

Halifax app is fine - in fact it does fingerprint recognition which Santander still doesn't do, although on balance the Santander app is a little better.

Neither have the ability to send a message to the bank which is annoying.

I love first direct as a bank, especially when needing to call them. However I much prefer the Halifax mobile banking, on your current account it shows what transactions are pending to come out of your account, I think it's great that you can see pending debit card payments and amounts and quickly too. It helps me keep a track of my spending better, you don't get this pending debit card payments with first direct.
