Reclaiming PPI from AIB credit card 17th Jul 17 at 11:12 AM
    Hi

I applied to the AIB to reclaim the PPI I believed I wrongly paid on my credit card. They basically told me to get stuffed, which to my shame, I did

I know I got the card in about 1995. I was clearing some paperwork at the weekend and found some old credit card statements from 1999/2000 from them, which clearly shows PPI. Am I within my rights to start my claim again. If I remember my dates correctly, my card was probably issued in the period that PPI was added automatically, but I may be wrong.

    TIA
Did my LBM in reverseFinally debt free with money in the bank!

I know I am getting old, but there is no need for my consultant to age me by another 10 years 😉

What was the reason they told you to get stuffed? Presumably because it was pre regulation?

If so, that won't have changed.

You also only get one complaint.

Unless the Bank rejected your original complaint on the basis that they had no record of you paying PPI, submitting paperwork you've found will not cause the Bank to re-open a closed complaint. If the original complaint was rejected for any other reason, you cannot simply go on complaining.

Incidentally, PPI was not added "automatically" during any period. It's myth sponsored by Claim Companies that PPI was routinely added to loans, credit cards and mortgages without the knowledge and permission of the customer. As you've discovered, PPI was itemised each month on a separate line of your statement so it wasn't "hidden" without your knowledge.
