Contributions to the workplace pension 16th Jul 17 at 5:35 PM
Can anyone tell me how I can find out when contributions to my workplace pension will begin? The company auto-enrolled me into a NEST scheme on 1 May 2017 but still no contributions have been made. When I ask my boss all he says is 'they will start soon'.

They should be there very soon. Even my employer's scheme which doesn't pay into NEST takes about a month to credit the payment; I started on 8th August 2015 and the first payment into the pension arrived around 28th Sept.

At least when I finish, I will get Payments arrivingfor a couple of months afterwards.

    https://www.nestpensions.org.uk/schemeweb/NestWeb/public/helpcentre/contents/what-is-the-start-date-and-enrolment-date.html

Is there a waiting period? Ask your employer for formal confirmation of start date etc.

Thank you for that xylophone. It seems they can use a waiting period to delay the start of contributions by up to 3 months. In that case contributions should start no later than 1 August. Would have been nice if they had told me they were using a waiting period as I stopped contributions to my private pension on 1 May thinking that contributions to the workplace pension would begin straight away.

You can always make a one-off contribution to your private pension of 3x the monthly amount (albeit it's still annoying).

It is possible to contribute to both a private and an occupational pension.

Still no payments have been made to my workplace pension and I've had a letter from Nest telling me they have reported my employer to the pensions regulator. We'll see if that does any good.

It is very common with workplace pensions for money to go in after salary I.e. Almost 1 month late.
There is a legal limit. Can't remember the exact figure but it's almost a month.
