Switching donor account query 14th Jul 17 at 9:00 PM
    Hey

I was wondering about switching accounts. I was going to open a donor account and then switch, is there a minimum time period required of holding the account before being able to switch.?

I'm going to assume it may be difficult to get another current account with the donor bank in the future?

    cheers

No minimum time, just depends on the t &cs of the account you're switching to. So it's often best to set up direct debits in the donor account and let them pay out at least once before switching for example.

Donor account is easier to set up as a basic or no frills account with a bank you already have an account with, fewer problems with credit and identification checks.

I've used Santander for this purpose for several switches and had no problems doing it again. I've also used the imutual cashback when opening these accounts for a free £30, not sure if that is still available.
