Hi I'm going to hit 40 in April and have learnt over the last few months to budget (ok took me long enough for reality to hit).

    Currently I have:
£31604.16 from £35000 left to pay to a loan me and my ex took out for home improvements long story but I have to get this paid off, £3395.83 paid so far
£12908.56 to everything else currently setting all this up with step change.

So the plan is to eat away at the debt and get free by September 2019 it's going to be a huge uphill climb but this time I want to get debt free for good and start fresh

Things that are on my side at the moment I have two jobs that I love, and a daughter that is an amazing support.

    Julys Plan:

Run my freezers right down, no more buying food until they are both a lot emptier than they are right now.
Use all the cereal up (I have lots of bits and bobs in bags)
Meal plan (because quite frankly I don't do it)
    Take lunches to work

This month will be focused on food completely and make a star there I will then hopefully carry this on and start saving. I am going to focus on an area each month at a time

Hi all and thank you for your kind words,

So last night I was delivering pizzas (my evening and weekend job) and they are closing for three weeks from next Sunday, so this means no more take aways free

This is going to do two things:
    1) Make me meal plan as the money I was using for spending money on my holiday mid August is gone so I need to spend very little for the next 2 and a bit weeks
    2) Clear the freezers down faster and actually look what I have.

I caught up with my rent today so now I can pay weekly on my rent card. I have started using calendarbudget again as I find it easier to plan where my money is going and I can do it day by day, well best get back to work

Due to lack of internet (now thankfully sorted) well not made any progress yet but payday is looming at the end of the month and if calendar budget is right (which of course it will be if I don't over spend I can clear another £600 from the loan, still waiting of step change sorting out when I need to start paying.

I'm off for a holiday mid next month it's all paid for just some spending money the good thing is it will be in a caravan so I will cook most nights. I have budgeted £150 for the week for me DD and bear (our dog). It's his first holiday and I think he will love it.

Sorted the freezers/fridges/cupboards out the other night and found an app to log all our food and I will tick it off as we eat it. This week no shopping for food apart from milk I have everything else we need.

    Well back to work

Bit of a long day ahead today, working the day job and 3 hours tonight. After Sunday this week though the pizza place is closed for 3 weeks bet I will miss it but the rest will do me good.

Meal Plan for next week as I said this will be a focus:

    Monday Lasagne and roasted veg
    Tuesday Left overs
Wednesday Pulled pork rolls with salad and wedges
    Thursday Left overs
    Friday HM pizza with wedges
Saturday Hunters chicken mash and peas
Sunday Roast beef and all the trimmings

I have organised my freezers so that one draw in the small one has everything I need for my meals, I'm also going to make a couple of cakes to use flour and sugar etc out of the cupboard.

All I need this week is milk I have loads of frozen fruit which I will put with pancakes or baked oats for breakfast.

Well back off to work for me

    Hi BT

Good luck on your debt busting journey. I have subscribed for updates.

I never even thought of a freezer inventory app. I just normally write it all down in a note pad but this sounds better will have a look to see whats available on my phone. Thanks

I have done a budget on excel today it's for the year next year but I have also done it for the rest of this year I guess as a practice for next year,

I made a Victoria sponge and flap jacks tonight as DD is off for 6 weeks from tomorrow. Also reclaimed my bread maker from the back of the cupboard and made a loaf of bread so she can have sandwiches for lunch next week too.

Only working 3 hours tomorrow night instead of 5 so a little bit less money from that but I have enough to go on holiday with. I am going to bake to take with us (turning into my late mum as she used to do this for camping).

Well off for a well deserved bath and bed night all x

I was given a bread maker years ago which mum has but she has offered it back. Are they any good?

They are but I always take the paddle out just before cooking in there as it leaves a huge hole in the middle of your bread

I know the big 40 is a scary thought

Well the weekend was very uneventful didn't do much lots of catching up on TV and housework.

Just went to Morrison's armed with a list DD wanted fresh fruit for the six weeks holiday, it's weird to think she only has 2 years left in school where is the little girl in the pinafore dress and pig tails gone?

I spent £9.80 20p less than budgeted but that's a win in my books and then I went over by a penny on my petrol made me slightly annoyed lol

Not a lot else going on until the end of the month, I have been sticking to my meal plan so far lets hope I can keep it up

Drives me made when the petrol goes over by 1p. I just wonder why we don't have pumps that you add in exactly how much you want and it just stops at that.
