Balance transfer 12th Jul 17 at 3:25 PM
Can you do a balance transfer onto a credit card that hasn't got a balance on it, effectively leaving it in credit. Just that then I could use the credit card abroad with no foreign transaction fees, but not have to pay the bill for a couple of years. Or wont the credit card companies do transfers onto cards with no actual balance??

It's against the terms of the card - it may get returned, you lose the fee and your account gets closed.

Alternatively, you may get way with it.

Either way, you'd still get forex fees, so it's irrelevant. Why not just get a card with no forex?

Thought it might not be allowed. I've got a card with no forex, wanted to balance transfer on to it so it was in credit, and then I'd have 28month 0% interest on the card I did the balance transfer from. So don't have to pay that card bill for 28mths. But sounds like that plan won't work. ...
